We decided to walk around St Marys after dinner. While walking around St Marys we visited the Washington Pump and Oak. It's located in the median of the road with historical marker providing the history of the Washington Pump and Oak.

Just in front of St. Mary's visitor center, and in the middle of the main drag, there's a small grass island with the stump of a native live oak and wooden post, as well as a Masonic obelisk. These mark the city's respect for the...More

Located across the street from the St.Marys welcome center, a stump is all that remains of an ancient live oak that was harvested to restore the USS Constitution. The water pump was the sole source of water in early St. Marys days.

A little historical display showing the remnants of an oak planted as memorials at the death of George Washington. The pump was one of several used in the town. It's right in the middle of the street and if not for the plaque you'd probably...More

Just a spot to see a fairly unusual bit of history while touring the town. In middle of street - but not much traffic.
