More than a museum, it's living history
Sep. 2021
We spent alot of time in the museum, but you can spend alot of hours here. It is very interesting, but the costumed characters outside is really the highlight. Visit a old farm, and visit the infantry and it is very interactive. You don't want to miss it.

She has not stopped talking about it and i also like it. Make sure if you are touring you get the triangle package to cover Yorktown, Jamestown and Williamsburg.

A MUST Visit Museum
Aug. 2021 • Solo
My first visit here and I was amazed at the quality of the layout, the artifacts and the VERY impressive storytelling. This is a Smithsonian quality museum and absolutely a must-visit when you are in the area.

Well worth a visit
Aug. 2021
An excellent museum and well worth a stop. The exhibits inside were informative and well-designed. On the grounds there are interpreters who really know their stuff (the medical man was particularly good), and there are also demonstrations (we saw a musket firing). The museum is laid out well, and it does justice to many groups that took part in the Revolution.

Excellent Museum

We enjoyed the American Revolution Museum. The outdoor areas were probably our favorites with the people explaining what they were doing. My husband especially enjoyd the musket and cannon demonstrations.

Very Educational & Fun Theaters

This museum was included in our Tri-Area Williamsburg ticket. We visited this on a return visit to Yorktown after going to the battle ground and Yorktown monument the first day. It took longer than expected and we spent about 3 hours here. Takes about 2-3 hours just to see all the inside exhibits and historical video presentation. My favorite was the realistic battle video where you coulf feel gunshots and cannon blasts through movement in your seat. You can also smell the smoke from the battle as you see it on the screens. Young children might be little frightened but older kids seemed to really enjoy it. I also likeed the outside tents, musket presentation, etc. We ate bbq at the museum cafeteria which helped a lot not having to go outside the area to find something to eat.

Great Museum History of Yorktown, VA
Aug. 2021 • Friends
A great museum that tells the history of Yorktown, Virginia. It’s best to get tickets for both American Revoultionary Museum and Jamestown Settlement cause it’ll save you money.

Loved it
Jul. 2021
Our family group of eleven ranging in age from 2-80 recently visited this fairly new museum. It is very well able to keep the interest of all ages. Some of us read each exhibit’s information, taking quite a time to finish. Others went from one point of particular interest to another. Our 2 year old fell in love with a small cannon he could sit on and pretend to shoot his brother. All of us were glad we had gone to this wonderful museum!

First time for the grandkids.
Aug. 2021
There were interesting things to do and learn for both an 8 yo and a 10 yo grandchild. I was little disappointed that a few exhibits were not open.

Fairly New Museum About the Founding of our Country
Jul. 2021
This museum is fairly new - 2017 I was told. It tells an important story - the founding of our country. There are people walking around in period costumes who give talks (we listened to the guy telling about the militia), and 2 movies to see - one with special effects that is really cool and kids will love. The outdoor exhibits are very interesting too - a military encampment, small farm, recreated housing, and every now and than a musket drill with a guy loading and firing a musket. All well worth the visit.
