The drive out to Fort Bowie was great because most of it is on a dirt road off the main Highway. The 3 mile hike was easy as you past the old cemetery and the forts ruins. There wasn't anyone else there the day i...More

This was one of the best adventures and surprised me. You drive on a dirt road to the trail head. It is 1.5 mile hike to the visotr center and the ruins of the ft. bowie . The hike is mostly sun exposed, very informative...More

3-mile round-trip hike to ruins along an easy, well-interpreted trail. Water fountains, restrooms, museum, & bookstore at the ruins' ranger station at the trail's mid-point. HIGHLY recommended.

There is a 1 1/2 mile hike to see the ruins. Along the way there are interpretive signs explaining about the history of the area. Makes you think about the pioneers and Native Americans and the trials and tribulations that they all went through to...More

Fort Bowie lies down a long dirt road (although I heard it can be accessed via a shorter dirt road). As others have stated, you have to hike 1.5 miles to access the fort. The hike was moderate, not that fun on a hot day....More

The road is not paved but in good condition. We traveled the road with our Toyota Camry and did not have any problems. It is a beautiful drive.
