This butte is the natural capstone and most memorable physical feature of Chaco Canyon. You can't climb it, bur it is certainly photo friendly. Try early morning or late afternoon for best photos. The centerpiece of the center of Ancestral Puebloan ancient culture.

Literally that - a landmark that helps you keep oriented wherever you are in Chaco Canyon. Amazing to think of the possibility of an ancient ramp and the solstice pictographs

The butte is large enough it dominates the valley floor. I don't think tourists/visitors are allowed on the butte, so it is sort of a pretty background.

We did not get onto Fajada Butte (don't think it is permitted), but it is a picturesque natural monument and one that has a fascinating story about the archaeological discovery of slabs of rock placed so annual solar events could be recorded or documented. Be...More
