Great hikes with young child, even without going up the summit!

My wife, young son (4 year old) and I visited Pinnacle Mountain State Park, on President’s Day, the park was busy with the holiday but there was plenty of parking with the overflow. From some researching we had determined that the King Fisher Trail and the Arkansas trail would be our best fit for hiking that day. We didn’t really... More

I have hiked mountains in North Carolina, New Mexico, Hawaii, and more. This is one of the most scenic views from the top that I have experienced.

We stopped by on a rainy day and enjoyed chatting with the rangers. The exhibits are a bit time-worn, but we still marveled at the nature exhibits with all types of creatures. They have a collection of bones, skulls, vines, furs and feathers you can handle and identify. The discovery room has both live animals and taxidermy that are interesting... More

This is a beautiful place, with a number of great hiking trails. I'll go back whenever possible. Visit the scenic overlook, the visitors' center, and at a different location, the west summit trail.

This is a great park for families. The visitor center is also a good place to visit. We make this a family activity several times a year.

THIS is a very family friendly and safe place for even a single to get out to exercise and hike up the mountain. There are easy and more difficult trails, and there are so amazing vistas . Also, the fall brings the fall foliage, and it is rarely too cold to go hike and get some exercise. It is very... More
