A smaller version of Bryce Canyon, this 2,500-foot deep basin filled with strange limestone formations in a vivid array of colors and hues offers breathtaking views on a five-mile drive along the rim. This naturally formed amphitheater has guided walks in the summer and a few designated hiking trails.

Beautiful drive, astonishing views. Visited October 16 and at 10,000 feet it was quite chilly. The visitor center and bathrooms were both closed for the year. You can drive from one lookout to the other, no need to walk the path unless you want to...More

We hoped to see fall foliage but maybe were 2 weeks late (October 17) ... Aspen Trees were bare and fallen leaves looked pretty dried up. Also, it was pretty cold at 11,000ft on 10/17 .... 40 degrees with wind chills in the high 20s...More

Great place to see wonderful Utah views. Things to see even if you can"t hike very far. Many can be seen from the pull outs by the side of the room. And not as crowded as the national parks can be sometimes.

Driving up to Cedar Breaks - and also Brian Head Peak give you vast views of the expanse of the Colorado Plateau in one corner (huge corner!) of the plateau. Fabulous!

If you ever have the opportunity to drive up into this well-deserved national monument when the leaves are changing, you won't be disappointed. The Aspens were paricularly brilliant!

Anyone should be able to snag a great photo in these settings. We did run into heavy, sticky clay mud on the trail to the Breaks that stuck to our shoes and built up several inches thick.

This park is similar to Bryce, but the location is much different and there are few people visiting. It is high in the mountains, so you get some great forest and mountain views on your way to the park. If you are visiting other parks...More

We love Cedar Breaks and have visited twice in the past ten years on our trips west. It is one of the lesser visited national monuments and doesn't have the crowds as do the larger parks. It is peaceful, quiet, and very beautiful. There is...More

Lived in Utah 30 years and first time. It was in the off season so there were no assistance available, everything boarded up for the winter. The views are breath taking and the hikes accurately rated for difficulty.

This smaller national park certainly delivers with unbelievable views. Short, easy hike takes you to one of the best games panoramic views in Utah! Don't pass this one up.

It is only a very short and flat walk from the visitors center to the main overlook at Cedar Breaks. Since there is still snowpack, you may have to enter from the Brian Head ski resort side.
