Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I see lots of people saying it's just an old lighthouse, it's not worth the trip... However what most don't realize is the historical importance of this monument. It was the first ever monument to those lost in the Titanic to be erected, built only a year after the ship sank, and only exists because of the insistence of Molly Brown herself. It might look dated nowadays, but that's because it's been around for more than 100 years! It's not just another Titanic memorial, it's THE Titanic memorial. Definitely visit it while you're Downtown and then explore the wonderful South Street Seaport.

The memorial plaque is affixed to the side of a small lighthouse that used to sit on the roof of a seaman's church nearby but now rests at ground level. The building is conspicuous but the plaque isn't and many people walk right by without recognizing its significance. Look for the metal strip embedded in the street that marks the old shoreline here; its just opposite the entrance to the South Street Seaport Museum. While this part of Manhattan celebrates the days of sailing ships and the "forest of masts" that once docked here, the Titanic memorial reminds people that steam ships were just as important to New York in the first half of the 20th century. This is not one of the city's great sights but it's worth a stop.

It’s a cool lighthouse in South Street Seaport, not a park, more like a plaza. The plaza is in memorial of the Titanic disaster. It’s worth a visit!

Just a lighthouse statue and a few flower beds. Not worth traveling a great distance for. Good sight seeing around the area though.

The Titanic Memorial lighthouse is in the historic south Street seaport area. It is a free exhibit dedicated to the loss of the lives of those passengers on the Titanic. The Memorial is 60-feet tall and inspired by Margaret Brown, The Unsinkable Molly Brown, survivor of the Titanic.

I am quite interested in Titanic, so this was a must for me. Keep in mind, it is easy to miss as it is located on a lighthouse. Otherwise not much really more to see than the plaque. Glad i saw it though.

We dropped our bike into our bike rental company and walked back to our bus while we met and acrossed this memorial lightinghouse.
Was interesting to watch that, and deep inside we hoped that DiCaprio or Winslet turns at the corner hand in hand..... :) :) :)
They did not do that :( :(

Wouldn't even have noticed it there even though it's a lighthouse in the financial district.
The commemorative plaque is interesting though.
If you're in the area, do go take a look. But don't bother to make the trip just for this, unless you're an inconditionnal fan.

This poor, tired sub-scale lighthouse sits weathered, faded and peeling at the corner of Water St and Fulton St. A small sliver of a park (flowers, several benches and tress) extends about 150' in one direction.
Although Titanic's sinking is a notable event, this monument is by no means a destination.
HOWEVER, it is right on the edge of the South Street Seaport area. Tons of restaurants, bars, coffee shops and trendy people line the streets, especially in the summer. Outdoor dining and drinking, and an active nightlife make this a fun destination.
Stop by the monument for a peak while you are in the area. Don't expect to be overwhelmed by it. Don't be underwhelmed. Just be, ah, whelmed, and move along to other sites.

Located on Water / Pearl St. crossing Fulton. A gateway to South Street Seaport which is in midst of redevelopment and worth a conditional stop (good weather, a boat ride, shopping and restaurants to come in re-build or photo op along East River).
