Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The New York Supreme Court Building is in the Financial District and is really close to the Brooklyn Bridge. It is a very grand building which is in keeping with it's purpose as it is the place where people's lives hang in the balance.
I visited in October 2023 and the area around the front of the court was being repaved but it was still possible to gain access to the building.

The New York County Supreme Court was designated as a New York City Landmark in 1966. There is a restaurant nearby called Joe's Shanghai which is 9 minutes walk from here.

This courthouse is a cool place to visit - we were told upon entering that it is not the one in the Law and Order intro, but in fact the Criminal Courthouse we visited next door on the same street is. Regardless, we visited both of them - and were pleasantly surprised to be granted access inside this and the other courthouse. Architecture is cool, and just to know that they were/are both in many shows/movies is neat. Our children enjoyed exploring these buildings on a hot day visiting NYC.

The front of this hexagonal building has become famous because of its regular use in the TV series, "Law and Order," and its appearance in other programs, such as "Bull." It has also appeared in a variety of films, including "Goodfellas." I went to take a look at it when walking in New York City's Civic Center area on an October weekend. Though I would have liked to go inside, the building was closed. As an architecture buff, however, I was content to look at the exterior.
Opened in 1927, the granite-faced, Classical Revival structure features a monumental Corinthian colonnade at the entrance. A 140-foot-long triangular pediment with 13 carved granite figures appears above the colonnade Three statues -- Law, Truth and Equity -- top the pediment. Broad steps lead to the entrance, and I watched one likely tourist walk up and down them twice.
The building is located on Foley Square, next to the Thurgood Marshall United States Courthouse.

I am a geek and have always wanted to see the building - I went on a sunday so it was very quiet around the area. It was what i expected - a building. But I was excited to see it as i am a huge SVU fan.

We had to visit this landmark simply because its linked and seen so heavily in Law and Order/SVU. It was surreal seeing the place weve seen so many times on TV & it looks as grand as it does on TV. A must for any TV/Movie fan

If you are into law, architecture of history or a TV/Movie buff this impressive building is well worth a visit. This is iconic NYC building that many will have seen in movies and on TV is absolutely beautiful. As your eyes gradually look up and take in the wide steps that lead up to the entrance, then the 14 granite columns that hold up the triangular pediment where is written the inscription “The true administration of justice is the firmest pillar of good government” and adorned with ornate depictions. Above this are the 3 statues of Law, Truth and Equity, so amazing to see up close. Unfortunately, no photos are allowed inside despite the gorgeous interior, but well worth the visit.

This is an iconic NYC building that many will have seen in films and on TV (Law & Order, etc.). It is, however, a working court building and not tourist-friendly. No photos are allowed inside - despite the WONDERFUL panels on walls and ceilings. There are also no tours allowed except through prearranged groups.

“The true administration of justice is the firmest pillar of good government.” - As seen on the masthead of The New York Supreme Courthouse at 60 Centre Street, New York. The building is a classical Roman-style architecture and considered a landmark in downtown New York.
For me, I’m interested in the grand building for its role in popular culture as location for many memorable scenes in movies such as Wall Street. This feels just like a scene taken straight out of an episode of Law & Order.
