Met some friends who live in town who took us to AVA for a few drinks and nice view of the city. The decor at AVA is very cool. Some might find it tacky but it has a Mad Men, post modern flow that I really liked. Sure, the drink are expensive but most nicer places in NYC are just... More

Went to have a drink at DREAM with a great friend I haven't seen in ages. Personally, the decor of the lobby I found nauseating and tacky. Too much going on visually. The door to go upstairs to the bar, with a 2nd floor pool, was built for a 10' person. Heavy, hard to open. The stairs are a lawsuit... More

I bought a Groupon for AVA Lounge which included four complimentary cocktails and passed snacks (pretzels, goldfish, etc.) for $29. While this price is more than decent for NYC, the lounge overall was NOT. The service was especially poor, there were no passed snacks or even a mention of it, my wine glass was served with lipstick on it, and... More

Really not much special about the AVA Lounge. Perhaps its better in the summer with an outdoor rooftop view. March inside was 'just ok'. Cocktails were fine, but pricy. Decor and ambiance not that great. Hard to have a conversation.

I met some friends in NY at Ava on a Saturday night pretty early for the normal cocktail scene (around 5p) since we were all planning on getting dinner and doing other things later on. We got there and I think Ava had just opened because it was empty which I expected since 5p is insanely early for New Yorkers... More

I've been there with a friend of mine, and the place is located at the rooftop terrace of the Dream Hotel. It's a nice place, but I expected much more from a rooftop view of Manhattan (the day before I've been to another one - check my other reviews if you want - and the difference is huge). Cocktails are... More

You’ll need to make yourself presentable to gain entry to the roof terrace of the Dream Hotel—no hats, trainers or ripped jeans here; you’d only ruin the chic, palm-tree-studded decor. Come for sunset or gaze at Times Square at night

This location was extremely too small for it to be advertised for anything other than a in-house hotel bar. The room has four couch seating area along the window with the supposedly picturesque views of the city (probably before the current construction/expansion of the nearbing buildings). Only true decent view is that of timesquare (slightly). A few more minature chairs... More

Located on the rooftop of the Dream Hotel, this bar was the perfect setting for a summer evening this past August. The views are great, drinks were priced decent however there is little room to move around if it gets crowded. Still though, had a great time here with some old friends and enjoyed the experience. Would definitely go back.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
