- Coastal133319898301 contributionGuard was rudeThe theater is beautiful. It's a small place very tight. I took my grandson who had seen the movie many times. It was very different. Just ok very colorful. We did like it. One security guard outside was was very rude yelling . This is a children's show have some decency. Tickets are pricey.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 30 October 2023
- thedoc-80Liverpool, United Kingdom134 contributionsArabian night in NYCA show on Broadway itself is such a thing to say youve done but when you get this magnificent spectacle as this it is fantastic. Theater is brilliant very welcoming....the concessions however are way way way overpriced and selection is poor. However, the show itself Aladdin was brilliant the costumes, big numbers, performer's all deliver.Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten 4 November 2023
- FshahNew York City, New York307 contributionsGreat Broadway ShowThis is such an AMAZING Broadway show! It's a classic Disney story that both adults and children will love. The show had several classic songs and they also added a few new ones which were really good. The costume designs were stunning, colorful and unique. The way they did their costume changes were also so fun! The sets are so artistic and the way they move through different scenes in the play was flawless. The best part of the show was genie's character, he made the show. I felt the chemistry between the 2 leads was a little off in the beginning but by the end it felt like they were more in sync. This was an epic broadway show and I would highly recommend it for anyone who is interested.Visited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 7 November 2023
- MikiyaY45 contributionsFor everyone who values freedom and liberty the most. This musical show is amazing! The cast (as of March 2024 at New Amsterdam Theater) is fabulous and they perform like a dream, with great assistance of music and sets. Genie (Scott) and Aladdin (Maliakel) are great combination, together with Jafar (Hart) and Iago (Rivera) and Jasmine (Balsara), it’s almost perfect (like Mary Poppins). So many gimmicks (of course, it’s Genei!) and so many exotic atmospheres and so many beautiful dances make the performance so enjoyable from age 10 to 100 (maybe more). This is my second time to watch the show (another one was in Japanese, in Tokyo, by Shiki, which I also had a great time). The theme is simple yet universal, and it tells how friendship, freedom and liberty are important, above the law which is made by a man but the earlier ones are created by something divine, or much more important. Very entertaining yet thought provoking. Highly recommended.Visited March 2024Travelled soloWritten 11 March 2024
- Ben B50 contributionsA must see in New York !Amazing show ! The cast is are so talented (the genie was our favourite) and the music, staging, prop's and orchestra are top notch. Love the subtle nods to other Disney films throughout aswel. A must see while in New York!Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 16 March 2024
- QZOCKSeattle, Washington285 contributionsGreat show. Recommended, especially the Genie part.Entertaining and recommended. I thought any number the Genie showed up, were really good and entertaining. I didn’t much like Aladdin or Princess singing too much. Good for kids… they will enjoy especially if they’d seen the movie. Buy ticket at the venue, will save digital fees (go walk over there the day or couple days before your preferred dates.. and research online first what seats are availabe, same ones are there as online at the venue)… RecommendedVisited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 26 March 2024

- Susan H9 contributionsAladdin ~ The MusicalIncredible show in a beautiful venue...for both kids (ages 6+) and adults. You won't be disappointed. The New Amsterdam Theatre is located at 214 West 42nd Street in NYC. Booster seats area available for the littles. The theatre staff is incredibly helpful. Get your snackies in advance of the show, because the lines can be long at intermission.Visited May 2024Travelled with familyWritten 28 May 2024

The show was phenomenal! Loved every minute of it! The cast, costumes, music, and theater were all amazing! No matter your age, I would be surprised if you didn’t walk away with a smile on your face and a lightness in your heart.
There are only two things that I wish were different: the seating and drink prices! We felt a little cramped in our seats. My friend moved to an empty seat In the row behind me because she felt claustrophobic! And, we were shocked to hear that it was $48 for a glass of wine and a “double” cocktail. (Yes, $48! That is not a typo! I would suggest you hit happy hour before you go.) I’m sure there was an up charge for the souvenir cup but as an adult that was something I could do without! We gave our cups to some little girls on our way out. At least we made a Mom happy and 2 kids jump for joy! ;) With that said, I would still highly recommend seeing the show. The positives definitely outweigh the negatives!

Tickets for both of us 160.00 we sat in Mezzanine. We wished we could have gotten tickets in main area. but they were sold out.
Getting into the theater was overwhelming! Employees yelling at guest to get on a long line that passed the end of the building. Showing prof of vaccine card is required. Once in the building. We had no bag checks . A metal dector A bottle of water and pack of sour patch was $11.00 Water fountain closed The show started 5 min late but it was worth the wait!

Outstanding performance!! I saw the show on the 13th of January and I was blown away. Visiting from Scotland this was the first Broadway show I have ever seen and wow I was seriously impressed! The talent on display was phenomenal. Dancing was such high energy and the Genie really sold the show also! Costumes were gorgeous and set was also really impressive. The theatre itself was probably the most beautiful I have ever been in. We had excellent tickets in the stalls (row D, seat number 7) and had a perfect view, so close in fact that we could see sweat drip off the performers as they put so much energy in! Front of house staff were also excellent and there was a great variety of merch on sale, I bought the pin badge and the program which also included the CD. Thank you cast and crew of Aladdin for an unforgettable evening!

This was my first visit to NYC and my first ever Broadway show and it did not disappoint. I am a massive fan of the films and knew that this would be the perfect choice of show to see on my birthday trip to the big apple with my hubby. We were really impressed with all the special effects, optical illusions and the stage design. The characters all did a fantastic job -singing, dancing and putting on a spectacular performance. I do think the Genie was in a league of his own, with the side jokes and gags, his singing and witty humor- he was really on point and so mesmerizing to watch.
We were sat at the front row of the balcony which although was a bit of a squeeze was a really good position to be sitting in to be able to see the whole stage production. My favourite bit, aside from everything Genie was the magic carpet number where i genuinely didn't know how they elevated that with no strings it was really breathtaking to watch. Overall we were both left speechless at how good the show was and it was a perfect way to finish off a busy Sunday. Thank you New Amsterdam theatre!

This is the only show which allows kids younger than 5 but will charge full price for them. The performance and experience is brilliant but you can only see it clearly in all its brilliance if you are sitting in the orchestra seats very close to the stage . Balcony is horrible.. you can’t see anything , chairs are atrocious , no space and for that price why they can’t make a proper theatre . It’s actually dangerously close that you may fall over each other . The black staff lady at the entrance made our entry and experience miserable as we are tourists and with a baby and hence carrying shopping and food for baby back for the hotel . She wanted us to throw all our food which we had taken for the baby . I can understand rules but there has to be a level of practicality. The level of rudeness is something else . After paying so much dollars for a show who wants to be treated like this . Even while departing she was muttering and saying rude words . Inside the theatre they will make you go right across in tiny spaces with no foot lighting to illuminate the way and I don’t recommend this at all. The staff is so entitled and obnoxious that they need a lesson in manners. Only one older lady was a bit considerate . NOT an experience until you get orchestra seats

I went to see this musical during a city break with my family; me and my mum went along. Getting in was very quick and efficient and finding the seats very easy. We were sat in the balcony, row C, and had a very good view of the stage.
The show itself was very enjoyable - I've seen several other Disney stage productions and this was definitely one of the better ones. The special effects and staging were great too, given that they were created several years ago. The acting was slightly disappointing and pretty mediocre with the exception of the actors playing Jafar and Iago who were the most entertaining. However, the singing was top notch and the story was as enjoyable and lovable as ever.
The reason I have taken one star off is down to the other people sitting around us; although I understand this was not anything to do with the show itself, soon after act one began there were two women down a level or two who were screaming at each other arguing and this was allowed to continue for far too long, it's a miracle the actors could concentrate on their lines! Children behind us talked loudly the whole way through and several people turned phones on or took photos with flash during the production. This was all very distracting and given the ticket price it was quite annoying that we couldn't fully immerse ourselves in the experience.

Went to theatre with my daughter. Usual problems. 2 children behind my daughter kept kicking her seat and talking throughout the first half. The parents did nothing. In the second half the kids fell asleep. I had a large man sitting in front of me so spent the whole performance moving back and forward, side to side. The theatre was cold and queue for the ladies toilet difficult. Having said this, we really enjoyed the performance especially the genii. How they do the magic carpet is a mystery to me. Everything good. Great singing, great humour. Worth seeing.

In New York on a 4 day break and decided we couldn’t leave without seeing a show on Broadway - Both me and my friend thought Aladdin was incredible!! We were wowed from start to finish - I would highly recommend this show to anyone and everyone. Lots of laughs and little surprises along the way, what an experience!!
The new Amsterdam theatre is beautiful inside and we were thrilled with the cups we got to take home as a souvenir- a Coca Cola was $10, and when taking your cup back a refill was $8!! There is a short interval in the middle and the show finished around 9:30pm.
Aladdin in a MUST SEE if your in New York!!!

We really enjoyed the actual performance - it was extremely well done. However, the discourteous and impolite behavior of certain of the staff detracted from the experience. I have been to many Disney productions and experiences over the years. This is the first time I have experienced this type of behavior (we witnessed that we were not the only people who were the recipients of such behavior so it was not an isolated incident). Please train ALL of your staff at the Amsterdam theatre to provide instructions/directions to customers courteously so that they can better enjoy this expensive experience.

I booked two tickets for Aladdin, Balcony C in the first row. My mom and I are short and are worried that the balcony railing would block our view. Should I get seats a row or two back?

I was in the second line fortunately, it is difficult I think it will be for you to have a clear view.

Also, the show is very loud so it may disturb even the quietest of babies!

It will be our first time in New York and we plan to get two seats for Aladdin. Our choices are Orchestra Left side Row Q 9 and 11 or Mezzanine Center Row HH 105 and 106. Which seat is better?

Mezzanine center to see the entire stage.

What restaurants nearby are family friendly and not so pricey?
Written 1 February 2019
From my experience even the chain restaurants are pricey in NY. A family friendly place to eat is Ellen's Stardust Diner. The waitstaff and servers are all potential Broadway performers. Kids menu most items $16. My granddaughter had spaghetti & meatballs. A decent sized portion. Entertainment during lunch was great!
