When visiting the city this is a place to visit. It is a "small" place, but the musicians and the music are "large" in energy. Good bar selection, good service and you need to practice sharing adaptability and inclusiveness. If you are a narcissistic person...More

We bought our tickets and they let us in. But there was no space sitting nor standing. The first thing the waitress told us was that if we didn’t like it we could go talk to the manager. She was hostile, the bartender was hostile...More

After a first day at NYC, closed it at Smalls. Got there around 10:30 ( Monday ) and enjoyed some awesome high quality jazz until late night. I took my 13 y/o ( Piano player and Jazz lover ) he also had a blast. Repeated...More

You may think you have to go to Nola or Europe to hear live, happening jazz like this... but nope! It's right downtown NYC. Great vibe, interesting cocktails and worth the modest cover charge that I understand goes directly to the performers.

Tiny underground room with a great bar and lots of talent in the band we saw. If you are looking for jazz than this is the spot. Cover was 20 per person which for live music is reasonable. The room is small and intimate what’s...More

Casual. Easy to get in (tho expensive at a $20 cover with ~$15 small glass of prosecco). We were seated expeditiously but it was a tight venue that wasn't super comfortable. Felt more like a concert than a place u can drink and talk with...More

If you love jazz, you will love Smalls. If not, best off going somewhere else. Down a narrow flight of stairs, it is as you imagine jazz clubs were 1/2 century ago. Mismatched chairs, a couple rows of benches, some dark corners for those who...More

I wasn’t impressed..... the musicians seemed like they were just jamming together. The music sounded runny and unorganized. Maybe we went on an off night.....but I didn’t think it was that great. Our ticket also got us into Mezzrow, which is much better. Be sure...More

We stopped here for a couple of hours one Sunday afternoon when the music starts at 4.30pm. It’s a cramped basement in Greenwich village -$20 per head to get in but the ticket lasts all night and you can be readmitted. Great performances, very relaxed...More

West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the
West Village is one of the city’s most coveted
addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and
cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture,
this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You
won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan.
Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to
get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you
