We were determined to visit a proper New York jazz club during out first visit to the city and I deliberated long and hard over which to choose. Without doubt I made the right choice and was buzzing about the visit for long afterwards.
Two venues. All ages. Just jazz. Olders with tricks, twists and colours. Youngs climbing the Olympus of Standards. Drink glasses simple, filled to the brim. Edgy or classy, program may not be followed. Before four, shy the door.
I went with friends to see an 8pm show and we got in line around 7pm. We would have definitely made it in and would have had seats (our place in line was at the corner), but our friends were running late and we decided...More
The music was really really good, there was also a Jazz dancer and the ambience was perfect. Bit crowded but with the same ticket you have also access to the sister club, Mezzrow (wich I liked even better), across the street.
Stoked about going there. But won’t be back. Bartenders should probably get jobs scrubbing toilets. Vibe was brutal. NYC is cool and fun, but this place was not. If you want a real Jazz experience try the place on Hilton Head Island, SC. Oh well,...More
We went there on our last night in New York. I’m sorry that we did that. We love good music, and the music is awesome. The problem with Smalls Jazz Club is that the music is drowned out by the tense vibe. We were excited...More
When we finally got in we were surprised to find the subway like conditions. Really crampt seating with everybody squashed into really tight rows. The temperature was unbearable and the organisation was awful. We couldn’t order a drink at the bar as we were told...More

I was looking for a real not ordinary Jazz Club in Manhattan...and one guy met in the Village suggested me this place...fortunately I followed teh suggestion...It's really a relaxed, old fashioned, but surprising place ..to relax, listen good live music and have fun with friends..and...More
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you
stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
