Neighbourhood: Hell's Kitchen
Just a few strides from the pulsing beat of Times Square, Hell’s Kitchen has a much more local pulse than its buzzing neighbour. The low-key vibe is part of the appeal, but there’s also a new energy arriving in the neighbourhood in the form of modern residential buildings with new retail and food shops. Ninth Avenue is lined with restaurants of all types, from tiny Thai hangouts and Italian trattorias to French bistros and Southern cuisine. Just show up hungry and walk up and down the street, you are bound to find something that looks good. For a more classic taste of the city, grab a bite to eat along Restaurant Row (46th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues) before a Broadway show. The Hudson River provides a break from the city blocks with riverside views, piers for boat tours, and parks perfect for a stroll.

We spent way more money than we intended, but the concentration of great shops in an enclosed building has great appeal in the New York winter!
Most of the shops center around fashion but does range between athletic wear to more upscale-comfort clothing stores. Hodge podge of other stores that sale electronics, manicuring needs, etc.
We didn’t do the restaurants or the on-site hotel; but it could be an interesting experience worth trying.
Our favorite part about going to Columbus Circle during the winter holidays is the light up ornaments and Christmas carols that play periodically throughout the day. Unique and highly enjoyable.

During our stay in NY, my girlfriend and I came to the shops at Columbus a few times, as the place offers a decent choice of food options, a supermarket, clothing shops and even a bookshop.
In addition, I must add it has toilets which are not easy to come by in the city.
While walking towards the upper west side the rain started pouring down and we managed to hide in here while visiting shops.
Whether you are into shopping, only want to enjoy a cup of coffee or have to follow your partner in her shopping frenzy, you most likely won't get too bored here, considering there is also free internet access.
Overall a good option for shopping in the area.

This mall consists of 3 floors of shopping and one floor of dining. They have a great variety of designer stores like Michael Kors, J Crew, Robert Graham, Coach. Shorty after you enter the mall you are greeted by a pair of giant statues, one female (on your left) and male (on the right). Both with genitals exposed. Quite a surprise! Simply seen as a work art. This is one of New York's upscale malls. Great place to shop!! I recommend coming here to get your shop. A hidden gem in this mall is Floga, where you can purchase fur items. They had the cutest fur scarves and hats if you are into furs.

An oasis of cool on a hot New York day. High end (expensive) shops and a nice food venue called Tartinery (see separate review.) We stopped at the Amazon Books place. The is a Whole Foods on the lowest level. The location is good very close to Central Park at Columbus Circle. The biggest downside are the two ugly metal statues of naked fat people in the main lobby; not sure why those are there.

Still an upscale venue but there are more and more lower end retailers showing up. The restaurants on the other hand are terrific. For the first time I saw several vagrants hanging in the lobby. One of them a women was there from 10:30 AM until I returned for dinner at 6:30. This is becoming the norm in NYC.

Stopped in to cool off after visiting Central Park. We discovered the BEST cafe, whose name I sadly have lost. They served the best iced tea, good and dark!! The lunch sandwiches were extremely flavorful and filling. This place will be on my list for a return visit.

The shopping center is nice (overall), shops ok, wholefoods is great to have lunch or to buy something take away.
The very terrible shop is Sephora and not because of the shop itself (it sells almost the same products everywhere) but this one has less things than the other Sephoras in NYC and the shop assistants are the worst! Not helpful at all and super super impolite! If you have a question, they are really annoyed and they make it very clear!

Located on the corner of Central Park, this mini mall had shops to die for, food to cry for and views to sigh for. We stumbled on this by accident looking for a toilet, but came here twice in our weeks stay. Great shops and the Bouchon Bakery was great too.

Shoppers will certainly like this mall. Apart from the many (expensive) shops, you'll also find good quality restaurants in the top floors.

This is an upscale shopping center at Columbus Circle. It's pricey but you can window shop, and they have tons of great places to eat.
