We went about 10 pm at night and it was so great! Beautiful skyline and Central Park looked so neat - a big dark rectangles with line of lights throughout. I liked that we got to be outside at the top and there were little breaks in the glass walls, so you could stick your camera through to get a... More

We used one of our CityPass tickets, and unlike ESB or OWTC needed *no* upgrade to go to all 3 viewing decks. The Top-Deck was stunning with unobstructed views all round AND we sat down for 20 minutes just admiring the view, totally unhurried. By far the best of the 'view' attractions!

Well worth a trip to the top of the Rock - the views are spectacular especially as you get such a great view of Central Park I would be tempted next time however to do top of the Rock at night to be able to see the Empire State building lit up

The view from the observation decks over the city at night time -amazing. It was great to look out over the Empire State building on Valentines night, lit up with red pulsing lights. This was definitely our favourite evening in New York

Bought advance ticket so had to be there at 0845...very quick access to the top and the views were simply spectacular. Teenagers loved it and so it was selfie heaven!! It was better to see the Empire State and New York from the rock than the other way around.

Top of the Rock is great with stunning views over NY city The staff are all very welcoming and helpful Special mention to the guy at the Sky Shuttle elevator who chatted to all the waiting customers and on finding out what country we where from (Ireland, Spain, France etc) then said a greeting to us in our own language!... Visited on a cold Valentines day but the views were breathtaking. Clear line of sight to Central Park and to the South, the Glass is better for viewing and photos than at Empire State. There are a good number of places to eat or have coffee too at the bottom. Used the NY Explorer Pass and was easy and efficient... More

After doing both the world trade centre and top of the rock I would highly recommend if you were only to do one to do the top of the rock, the view is spectacular and far better as it is open with no windows in comparison to world trade.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
