We used the Aerial Tram to get to the Island and then back to Manhattan. The best part of Roosevelt Island are the views back to Manhattan over the East River. It was a cold October mid week day, so it was quiet. We had...More

It’s really nice to visit Roosevelt Island. We went by tram and it is easy because you can pay with the Metrocard. It’s a small island and nowadays there are many things to see as the breathtaking views of Manhattan, the Cornell University Campus and...More

Caught the train to the Island, and traveled up the huge escalators, then took a short walk to see Manhattan from a different view. Then took the Cable Car/tram Way back and it was great.

I missed out on going to Roosevelt Island when I first visited NYC, so it was top of my list when I visited this year. I wasn't disappointed either. Having learnt the type of president that Roosevelt was, this dedication really suited him. And it...More

This is part of the city you have to see. A memorial to a very deserving man. It makes you think, "A four term President!" Please, do yourself a favor and visit!

It's well worth taking the aerial tramway (a fun experience in itself) over to Roosevelt Island. There is a helpful information booth just outside the Tramway station. A 10 minute walk along the lovely riverside will provide fantastic views across the East River to Manhattan...More

Go to the Roosevelt Island Historical Society Building just as you get off the tram. It is right around the corner when they are open during the day. That would be the best approach.
