Whenever I dined with another at the olive tree, located atop the comedy cellar, a waitress would come over and offer free tix to the comedy cellar just downstairs. A recent visit gave me no such experience.. Guess with the prices they charge now, the CC isn't giving away any freebies.

I always have fun at the cellar. Yes it get crowded. Last Thursday night Louis C.K. snuck in and blew everyone's mind for at least 20 minutes. Always worth it. Fun to go upstairs to the olive tree and have a post show brew

What an evening's entertainment! 6 hilarious acts over 1.5 hours. I would highly recommend booking a table for this event if in NYC

For $20 + the typical "buy 2 drinks" cover, you see first rate comics in a 50ish seat venue. The laughter-filled hour and a half flew by quickly with the only possible downside the push to order your "minimum". You won't regret the time spent and I've seen 3 of the comics on the new HBO show CRASHING. Top Rate... More

This was high on our list of places to go while visiting NYC, and so glad we were able to make it! The comedians we saw were hilarious, we had good food. Got to mingle with Judah Friedlander! Definitely recommend catching a show here.

Always visit the comedy cellar. Lots of places to eat before the show too. Small and cramped space but somehow it works. Great lineup tonight (06.03.17). Jim Norton, Ryan Hamilton and some other people I don't know. Amy Schumer did a surprise visit :)

Line up of 6 comedians - most with recognizable names. Very funny show. Small venue - can hear well even if not a clear line of sight from every seat. Basement with low ceiling - nice change from sleek modern clubs. You may be seated at a table with others. Reserve in advance. Once at the venue (about a half... More

We went on the NEW JOKE night, Tuesday and it was fantastic. I had no expectations, ok I had really low expectations and from the start it was all good. There were about 10 comics that came out, 5 of them giving me a real good laugh, 3 of them making me pee my pants (no, not really but close),... More

Staying in Greenwich Village

Neighbourhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighbourhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighbourhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
