We happened upon the Lincoln Center at The Shops, where we purchased tickets to hear Wynton Marsalis and the rest of the Lincoln Center Jazz Band perform jazz from the 1920s, then an original, commissioned piece by one of the band members. The entire evening, including the pre-performance lecture, was a heady, foot-tapping, head-bobbing, invigorating treat. We do not like... More

A number of interesting theaters in one location. If you enjoy jazz this is the place to visit. The Rose Theater is particularly interesting because of its design.

It is different from the small village venues: a good restaurant with fine shows. If you want quality jazz with an elegance taste. Room faces Central Park and some of the shinning skyline.

White Light Festival. Jazz at Lincoln Center is fabulous. Went to see a very modern version of Babel with a friend. We were both mesmerized. Impressive talent, excellent acoustics and the performance received a standing ovation. The Biblical story of Babel went to a new modern level with the performance. It was perfect. An ideal way of showing that we... More

An unbelievable experience, great talent, wonderful acoustics and the world's top jazz artists. The season launch was a night of more superlatives than possible - marking 100 years of jazz piano with artists from the ages of 89 to 13. Every single one brilliant. An unforgettable night.

Oh what a night! The music was terrific, the location beautiful and the service so attentive. This intimate venue allows the musicians the opportunity to really show their talents and be close to the audience.

Visitors to town are often confused about this venue. Judging by the name, they think it's in the Lincoln Center (separate review). It is not. Jazz at Lincoln Center is actually in the Time Warner Building, the one on Columbus Circle with the two towers atop, containing one of the most expensive residential Real Estate in the City. If you... More

This comprises both an intimate sized concert hall with excellent acoustics and a nightclub with large windows overlooking Central Park located behind the bandstand. We've seen everyone from Winton Marsalis, resident music director, to Christian McBride. Arturo O'Farrill and his Afro-Cuban group play regularly, but there are major jazz artists performing here pretty much every week.

Jazz at Lincoln Center (JALC) is the premiere jazz venue in NYC. Nightly throughout the year there is a New Orleans club atmosphere with signature performers at Dizzy's Club Coca Cola. The Appel Room overlooks Columbus Circle with floor to ceiling views. It is more formal than Dizzy's with scheduled performances. Rose Hall is where the Jazz at Lincoln Center... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
