Neighbourhood: Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. Studio 54 conjures up a place that was a very wild disco for the carefree famous. Now it is a theater, a very beautiful one that still has its disco ball and a very cool atmosphere. We saw Pictures from Home which was absolutely wonderful, maybe more so seeing it in this fabulous setting. So if you’re going to see a show and one to your liking happens to be at THIS theater, go! You will enjoy both the show and this unique historic place!

First visit to New York from the UK and stayed a week.
We wanted a show with a feel good factor and an American theme, so The Louis Armstrong story ticked all the boxes.
The theatre is comfortable and cosy meaning you have a great view.
Loved the story, told in a humorous way; with beautiful music we know and love.
Perfect evening for our last night in the big Apple. Thank you

I think I have seen Cabaret four times or so, but when I heard Alan Cumming was back as the emcee, I had to come back too, and lucky for me I had to be in NY on business. Pay for the floor seats at the tables, it is worth it. The obstructed view seats were all that I could get my hands on and I was a bit concerned but they were much better than watching it from the mezzanine, and there were only a few bits I had to crouch down to see. From the decadence and fun of the first half to the tense second act, I won't say more in case you don't know the story, but no matter how many times I see it apparently, it never fails to move me. Don't miss it while Cumming is still there, he is perfection. (Sidenote - apparently not for the easily offended. The five elderly midwestern tourists adjacent to me were apparently quite upset that Cumming showed his "bottom" and did not come back for the second act. Bless their hearts, not sure what they thought they were going to see.)

What can I say other than Alan Cummings was superb as emcee - sadly show slightly let down by Michelle Williams who does not portray Sally Bowles well and whose voice is distinctly lacking for the final Cabaret song. But worth it to see AC in full flood -even better than his portrayal of Eli Gold in The Good Wife !!

Great venue...amazing band that accompanied. Seating great...would go back for another performer. When booked, was not told of food or drink minimum plus concert fee../ we would have eaten dinner there had a we been told.

Very much enjoyed our evening at the Broadway musical kiss me kate! The venue was very open, and not a bad seat in the house. The staff was also very helpful and friendly.

The revival of Kiss Me Kate is a must see. The production featured two terrific leads, each of whom more than did justice in their renditions of "So in Love" and "I Hate Men" and "Where is the Life of Late I Led." Kudos also go to the playful and challenging choreography and its execution by the 3 suitors of Bianca. They were a joy to watch. For me, however, the highest praise goes to the ensemble in their magnificent and show-stopping performance of "Too Darn Hot". FANTASTIC!
HAVING SAID THAT, BE WARNED THAT THE THEATER DOES NOT HAVE AN ELEVATOR. Spend the extra money for a floor level seat if you don't want to climb lots of stairs.

I saw the revival of Kiss Me Kate last night. Kelli O’Hara gave her all, as did the rest of the cast. Some of the singing and Dancing was excellent. In fact, Act II’s “Too Darn Hot”was one of the best numbers on Broadway this year.
The problem with revivals is the content and jokes are just not pertinent to today’s audiences. It was very slow moving in spots and missed the mark on many attempts at humor. A few updates were added to try to modernize it, but not for the better. The “dick” dance for the Tom, Dick or Harry was juvenile and tasteless. Certainly not the sort of scene I expect to view in Broadway seats at Broadway prices.

I attended “Lifespan of A Fact” and had a great time.
The staff at the theater are extremely nice. They all seem to want to be there and that makes for a great atmosphere.
The theater is gorgeous and there is not a bad seat anywhere (I sat in the very last row on the mezzanine).

The current production, “The Lifespan of a Fact” is truly a gem! Daniel Radcliffe, Cherry Jones & Bobby Cannavale comprise the amazing cast. Daniel is hilarious! Catch it before the limited run ends. Side note, the stage door is on 53rd St.

I'm going to my first show on New Years Eve. I also became a member so I could pre-order tickets. I got my membership card in the mail, but I didn't get any tickets, nor did my email give me tickets just a confirmation of purchase type page. Are the physical tickets I have to bring with me? Or will they have my name and check my ID to let me in?
Written 18 December 2018
Hi - If you print out your email confirmation, I think that is all you will need to see the show. However, you can also call the Studio 54 number to confirm, just to make sure. But, I believe, with your confirmation of purchase you're good to go! Have fun! Happy New Year!

Do the actors come out of the studio door to sign playbills and take photos with everyone on matinee days?
Written 9 November 2018
Has anyone ever met any of the actors coming out of the stage door?
Written 4 November 2018
I attended the show tonight and Daniel came out and signed playbills and took pictures with everyone. Cherry & Bobby both had prior commitments but I was told that they usually show up as well.

is it possible le to buy tickets for Studio 54 without having to pay premium price tickets and agency fees on top.
I am in London and cannot go to their box office.
Any recommendation of agency I can trust and to get tickets from if it is the only way to secure tickets.
May thanks

Its now used as a Broadway theatre, Cabaret played there a long time, as it started the famed disco clubs transformation into one. I recently saw Latin History for Morons there and currently playing if it hasn't closed yet is Children of a Lesser God. TKTS lines can be long, but best value for tourists visiting NYC. I'm from Long Island so I prefer to just go to the box office.

Hi, How should I dress to attend the theatre show at Studio 54? Do people dress casual or dressed up?
Thanks
Written 6 June 2015
Hi. Yes, as per the other answers, you can wear anything you feel comfortable in (within reason, of course). That said, I tend to dress up a bit for a Broadway show as it is a special event and that is how I prefer to attend, but there aren't any requirements.

Has anyone sat in the obstructed view bar rail seats on the orchestra level? How obstructed of a view are we talking? Thank you!
Written 14 January 2015
If the bar rail seats are in the back, I think you'll be ok. I had seats at Table 186 and they were good and the bar rail was right behind me. I saw the side bar rail, and they had a pole nearby and didn't see all of the stage.
