I was considering AirBnB for our Xmas Holidays. But this hotel turned out to be exceptional. With good for money values, we stayed for 5 days and 4 nights here. With kids flying in from Texas while my wife and I flew in from outside, this hotel served as the melting pot for us to unwind after flying over 24 hours from tropics. The hotel provided good space closet to store our luggage and made our stay here quite well. The staff were friendly and seemed ready to help while I didn’t explore other features like dining or laundry. Everything was within walking distance with some kebab vendors just outside the hotel, with subway stations nearby. …

Opened in 1902 and renovated in 2012, the Algonquin has had a long-standing reputation of hosting literary movers and shakers almost from the beginning. Located on 44th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, it’s close proximity to the Theater District is no wonder that Douglas Fairbanks, Mary Pickford, John Barrymore, Tallulah Bankhead and William Faulkner were all regulars here. We liked our room, the staff were all pleasant and helpful and the price is very fair for New York City. Be sure to look for "Hamlet" the House Cat. The Blue Bar and it’s Al Hirschfeld artwork is a good place to grab a drink and the lobby bar and the Round Table have live music on some evenings. The hotel is beautiful with a lot of charm. Room was comfortable and welcoming. We even got to meet Hamlet, the resident cat. Reason for 4 stars was that drink service in the lobby area was nonexistent - very disappointing.
