Ran into these guys and was sold what we were told was a ticket to the 102nd floor observatory - turns out it wasn't - just to the 86th and the Skyride. Should have known better, seemed too good to be true; was too good to be true.

Lying hustling salesmen, most are probably fresh out on parole and tell you lies to sell you a ticket to a retarded moving platform with a video from 1995. Got my money back after I called the home office and complained relentlessly. The owners of the Empire State Building finally kicked them out. Garbage.

We got scammed by the guys in blue jackets outside Empire state building, we paid 98 usd for two adults. He had already charged 98 usd and would not give us the money back, although the price should be 64 usd. Piece of s**t company.

We went to the sky ride as it was on our New York City pass and we were already at the Empire State Building anyway. I was quite looking forward to it as something a bit different. Well, even if you have it for free do not waste your time. This is extremely outdated, I'd suggest the recording is over... More

Avoid the skyride, unless you like to watch a outdated film,A la cinema 180 on a much smaller screen, the visuals and effects are not the best either, I tought it was simmilar to "Soaring"over california at WDW or DHS CA,But was I wrong. Its just not worth spending your money on it unless you allready have bought a full pass... More

The queue to the security check-in was very long (estimated waiting time up to 3 hours), so we decided to upgrade our tickets in order to skip the lines. When we upgraded for 42 USD each ticket, no one has informed us that the upgrade a terrible visit to the Skyride (nightmare!!!!!, both my friend and I had motion sickness... More

The observation deck is great once you finally get there. We used our New York pass and nowhere could we jump the queues. We thought we'd do the 'ride' which was a lame 4D ride narrated by Kevin Bacon. Don't bother. The staff were unenthusiastic and hell bent on selling us the overpriced map. Don't need it. Had to walk... More

AVOID AVOID AVOID - Don't buy a ticket from any street seller in blue uniform claiming to be an official ESB employee - they are not, like us you'll end up getting ripped off to the cost of 128 DOLLARS FOR 2 TICKETS!!, an upgraded 'line pass' for a queue that didn't exist, an outdated promo film and a 'ride'... We were short of time and agreed to the "VIP priority service" offered by Skyride sales people operating around the queues for the official ESB tickets. We were told the premium would be $3 per ticket. The premium was in fact over $30 a ticket. For this we got to queue about an hour for a very dated audiovisual presentation... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
