Great way to see the City and get the inside scoop on the history and architecture of local neighborhoods. Having been on a number of Big Onion tours prior, the Dumbo tour did not disappoint. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and fun and was able to answer any and all questions posed by the group. Great for native New Yorkers... More

This was my second walking tour with Big Onion. It is called the Official Gangs of New York Walking Tour because after the film Gangs of New York was criticized for historical inaccuracies (in part because it was based on a book and the author of the book exaggerated the degree of criminal activity of the Five Points, and partly... I visit NYC at least 1-2 times a year and finally went on a Big Onion tour. Since it was over Christmas-NY holiday tours were limited and only one was available on the day I was able to go. So I signed up for the Art Sex and Rock & Roll tour. It was so interesting! Ted was wonderful---very knowledgable... More

Thank you for making time for a Big Onion walk during your recent visit to NYC. Glad you walked with us and had just an enjoyable time with Ted. You are correct - during the winter months we often offer one tour on weekdays. As a note for future walkers - the "Art, Sex and Rock & Roll" tour is... More

Walking tours are a focused way to spend time in a neighborhood you might overlook as a visitor - and to feel part of the city that can be intimidating but in reality craves -- and deserves -- your admiration. Big Onion tours are consistently good. My husband and I have done Harlem, West Village, DUMBO/Vinegar Hill -- and most... More

Thank you for your wonderful review! We are very glad that you have found our walks consistently good - you certainly have explored very diverse parts of New York with us! I participated in the American Revolution walking tour and was thoroughly engaged. I learned so much about the early history of NYC, found some new areas to explore (Stone Street!) and got a little Hamilton fix all at the same time. This was my second Big Onion tour, and I plan to take one each time I visit New York.

7 of us, including a 10 and 7 hear old, went on the Lower East Side food/history walk and loved every minute of it. Well organized; educational; great food sampling. Highly recommended. We'll be sure to take other Big Onion tours.

It was a cold Nov morning but we persevered on the Brooklyn Bridge/Brooklyn Heights Tour was with an extremely knowledgeable guide. While we passed larger groups we felt fortunate to be in a small group. My only criticism is that the guide walked ahead not allowing us to take photos and I missed hearing some of the explanations. Since we... More

Thank you for joining last week’s chilly Brooklyn Bridge & Heights tour. I am glad that you enjoyed the outing despite the seasonal weather. It is not always easy for us to balance the interests of all participants on our public tours. Some wish to walk with our guides to hear the history & have a walking tour “experience”. Others... We've done several Big Onion tours (Theatre district, Harlem, Lower East Side Food) and enjoyed them all. The guides are well informed and entertaining graduate students who do a great job explaining the history and culture of the city. We look forward to doing more tours on our next trip to NYC.

This tour was great. Did it with a group of friends, most of us live in New York City, but wouldn't necessarily have known anything in great detail about the history of the neighborhoods we walked through. Lots of delicious food to try along the way. Well worth the price, I highly recommend this tour!
