The gardens have a quiet elegance to them in the winter months when nothing is growing but still you can walk around and see all the bushes and statuary. The gardens are under renovation but in the winter months there is nothing to see on that side of the park.
Still is it nice to walk around the shrubbery and see the mazes of the gardens. There are still people walking around admiring the lawns and trees and taking pictures.

I went to the Central Park Conservatory for the first time since the pandemic and the core of the gardens are under renovation.
You can still walk around the perimeters of the gardens and see the trees and lawn. The fountain off to the side surrounding by those gardens was still open and it was nice to walk around. The flowers were in full bloom.
It will be nice to see the end results with the gardens when it is finished.

It was quiet and peaceful but a bit underwhelming. The south end around Burnett Fountain was nice but the rest of the garden seemed underdeveloped. Maybe nicer later in Spring and early Summer. I was there in mid-April.

I've been going to NYC for many years but never even knew this garden existed. A very nice space in central park. Lots of great spots to sit and relax. Plants are all well manicured. Nice fountain. Public rest rooms. Did I mention its FREE?

Central Park's Conservatory Garden is the city's best kept secret. Entry to the six acre wonder is through the magnificent Vanderbilt Gate on Fifth Avenue. The gate was the entryway to the Vanderbilt estate which once stood on the site. The garden consists of three gardens leading into one another. The English Garden is a formal garden with water lily pond and bronze statues of children. The French Garden features lavender and statuary, and The Italian Garden, has pergolas with wisteria hanging in abundance.
The Untermyer Fountain is a beautiful circular bronze sculpture of three dancing nymphs. Some couples choose to have their wedding photos taken there, so it's not uncommon to see a wedding party when you visit. Not too many people know about this unusual bit of beauty in Central Park , but this hidden gem is definately worth seeing.

A lovely peaceful place to visit when you want to get away from the buzz of Manhattan. Our apartment was two streets away from Central Park so visited here several times during our visit.
Each time was enjoyable and surprisingly very few people.

The gardens are a very lovely and peaceful escape from the hustle of NYC. My teenage daughter and I decided to take the subway to see the gardens. The walk from the closest subway stop (Lexington and 103rd) took us past some housing project areas in East Harlem where we did not feel particularly comfortable. This is not meant to be a judgement of the area; you need to be aware and do what makes you comfortable.

Three BEAUTIFUL gardens composes the landscapes: French, English, and Italian. European gardens are extremely beautiful landscaping and greenery. These Conservatory Gardens makes the perfect background for wedding photography and other professional photo shoots as I was planning on having my wedding to be photographed here. Note a permit is required with an exorbitant fee to use the grounds for photography.
Walter Schott's Three Dancing Maidens scupture is located in the French garden. Central Park Conservancy has a book published about "Places to Discover and Enjoy in Central Park."

Mid April is a little early for things in bloom. But it is still very pretty nevertheless. It’s located in the north east part of the park. It is closed part of Wednesday mornings for maintenance.

Beautiful garden, hidden gem. Somewhat out of the way - uptown - it almost seem undiscovered. So not too crowded, just filled with nature at its best.
Manicured gardens in different styles, French, Italian, English for everybody to enjoy.
The entrance at 5th ave - is a large beautiful iron French gate.
Brides limos show up on the weekend - as it is a very romantic spot for wedding photography.
I love to revisit this time of the year - for the special memories this place holds for me....

How much is the entrance ? And is it open in December. ? Planning my vacations for 2019 already.

Open all the time
The entrance is on the side...you have to look for it
No fees ever

I have been in the Gardens many many times and I have never seen dogs there. I don’t know if that is coincidence or if that is a rule.
I would not bring the dog in there… People are in there for the peace and beauty. It would infringe upon peoples enjoyment of the gardens.

I want to visit the Conservatory Garden in New York with my family. Can you share any popular website, except govisitnyc, which I can go for detail information?
Written 13 December 2017
Agree with the above. Be aware that the Conservatory Garden is rather small and can be seen in less than an hour. If you wish for a longer excursion, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden is a true oasis of quiet beauty away from the din. The New York Botanic Garden (in the Bronx) is also very large, but it's farther away than the one in Brooklyn.

Hi everyone! Will I still see these beautiful flowers by October? 3rd week of October actually... would love to add this to my itinerary if ever!! thanks!!!!
Written 18 September 2017
There are still flowers in bloom in the park. It may not be like the Spring or Summer but the Gardens run seasonally. So expect to see Fall flowers in the Garden beautifully laid out and well maintained. The volunteers who work here take a lot of pride in the way the Garden looks.

Give yourself at least an hour and a half. While you are there don't miss the Museum of the City of New York and El Burrio Museum which are both across the street from the Garden. They both charge a small fee but are both worth visiting as well when in the area.

In what months, days, and at what times is the Conservatory Garden open? (Planning to visit the week of June 26th-July 1st)
Written 14 May 2017
The garden is open seven days a week but the best time to go is in the early afternoon around 1:00pm-5:00pm. It is not the best to go after twilight. Also plan on visiting the Museum of the City of New York and El Barrio Museums across the street. Tu Casa Deli on 104th Street has delicious empanadas that make a quick snack. There is also the Harlem Meer at the north end of Central Park that you should see before the afternoon was over.
