Happy hour + cake = great choice. We were wandering around the Lower East Side and were drawn to the ambiance of this place. A live music venue at night, we visited during happy hour, so it was pretty empty but still cozy. We each had a drink - like $4 during happy hour (!) and split an incredibly delicious... More

My band played here in the downstairs. A fun show. Excellent sound. A great mix of people. Downstairs is the venue/bar. The stage is lower than the rest of the room as the long hallway run gets higher and higher. However, it's very narrow. One tall couple can block your view, so get up close in between bands if there... More

Whilst holidaying in NYC last summer I spent a day wandering around the East Village and made sure to stop in at the Cakeshop for some good music, happy hour whiskey (5 til 7 I think) and people watching. Staying in Lower East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Lower East Side
Straddling the bridge between New York’s thriving immigrant past and its modern transformation into a beacon of global art and culture, the Lower East Side is one of the most dynamic neighbourhoods in the city. The blocks of tenements that represented the promise and blight of the Lower East Side immigrant experience now command top dollar for new residents. Right next to old-world delis, 24-hour bodegas, and the garment shops of Orchard Street, you’ll find hip clubs, fashionable bistros, and luxury hotels beckoning at all hours of the evening. If you love nightlife and live music, it’s hard to beat the scene here.
