Great tour guide, walked through the entire East Side and her great stories. Learned a lot about the neighborhood. Was able to go into shops, and taste the city. Tour guide grew up in the area so we heard stories from his youth.

My husband and I signed up and paid online to go on the tour. We took a cab to the meeting spot, arriving 15 minutes early as the confirmation email instructed us to do. We waited, waited and waited. No one ever showed up or called. Five mi utes after the tour was supposed to start I checked my phone... More

This was the fault of the ticketing agency, fareharbor. They had just extended the tour calendar for us and screwed up the settings. Customers are not supposed to be able to book less than 3 hours in advance to give us a heads up. You booked less than 45 minutes before the tour was supposed to start. It would have... More

I thought this was a terrific and interesting tour and I'm certain to do it again. I think anyone who is even remotely into Italian history or the history of NYC will enjoy it. Eric was very knowledgable and easy to understand. We did this tour at night two days before Christmas so I cannot wait to take it again... More

If you hate leaving a city without learning something new, this is the perfect tour to try. Eric has a wealth of first hand knowledge and is willing to frame the tour based off questions and feedback from the tour-goers. Thanks for keeping the history alive, Eric!

This tour was a fitting end to our pre-Xmas trip to New York. It was quite chilly but Eric kept our minds off the weather with his brilliant narrative about the truths and myths surrounding "The Mafia". His insights about how the families operated, initiation into a family and the then and now of how much power the families have... More

We really enjoyed our tour with Eric. This is the type of tour you could keep going all day as it was so interesting to learn all the history. Eric had a real passion that only comes from being part of the area. Can't recommend the tour enough

Informative walk through a part of Manhattan I haven't spent much time. Eric knows his way around and is able to point out many historically interesting spots. So much has changed with the recent gentrification of the area but he grew up in the neighborhood and helps bring it to life.

Eric is a fantastic guide - he is full of knowledge and dispels the many myths that you read in the press. He gives so much time for you to ask questions, and also pushes you to seek your own answers. Eric provides a follow up reading / watching list and we have since bought his book among many others.... Eric did a great job. I grew up in NJ and thought I knew about the mafia but there were so many misconceptions that he discussed. There were 4 of us from New Orleans and he did a great job discussing the role of our city with the Sicilians entering the country at the turn of the century. An easy... More

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
