Most walking tours point and stare at New York-with Streetwise New York, you live it! Streetwise New York explores neighborhoods, recounts history and studies contrast--but does so knowing that New York’s essence isn’t listed in guidebooks or displayed in museums. The true New York is melted into slices of pizza, hidden in subways, and carried in the ever-changing stories of its 8.5 million people.

We met Dan at the Essex Street Market from which he commenced a 3-hour tour of the Lower East Side, Chinatown, Little Italy, Soho and Greenwich Village for the two of us. His style is friendly and the tour is packed with plenty of facts and figures, as well as some out of the way places that we would never... More

We got to take the tours via our stay at the Pod 51 hotel. The first tour we took was the Little Italy and Soho areas. Dan was our tour guide and he did a fantastic job. He had lots of history to share about the area with his own experiences sprinkled in. We like the tour so much we... More

Really had fun with Dan who showed us little known areas of this part of NY as well as a subway stop that is no longer a stop! Great experience and if we'd had a few more days in the city would definitely have taken advantage of more tours! Highly recommend!

Got to take 5 tours and it was far more incredible than we expected. Proffesionalism and fun combined for the perfect tours around NYC. Took home lots of knowledge of the city that probably would'nt have learnt if it wasn't for these awesome people.

My husband and I did a private walking tour of Brooklyn with Dan and had a really enjoyable day! We felt like we were hanging out with an old friend as we meandered around the neighborhoods and he shared stories, history and special places we would never have found on our own. This was one of the most fun things... More

Sonya took us on a great tour of street art in East Side and into China town. A small group of us 6 or 7 met at Pod hotel and took subway down town. Half of us on the tour were had come along on our own - but we soon felt like family!! As we travelled Sonya talked about... More

This was our second time touring with Andrew & Streetwise. We even booked the same tour, The Immigrant. Being history buffs we found it fascinating the first time around & since we were traveling with a different couple this time we thought we'd book it again. Andrew has an undying love for his city & its history and it shows.... More

My friend and I stayed at the Pod Hotel for four days in February. Upon arrival we noticed the walking tours that were offered and were excited to see that they were areas that we had been hoping to see anyway. We decided to try one (Meatpacking District, Greenwhich Village, Highline) tour to see what it was all about and... More

Absolutely enjoyed the enthusiastic and informative tour with each member of Streetwise Tours. Without their recommendations, their open and expressive insights that delve into the ceaseless ticking Heart of New York and the people that live there, we would have not been able to appreciate this great city in the same capacity we do now. You can't just read about... More

During my staying at Pod, I joined the tour "Greenwhich village and Meatpacking district" with Sonya and it has been a unforgettable experience! The group was small, the atmosphere relaxed, and our guide was truly passionate and informative. The next day, I could not avoid to join the "Dumbo and Brooklyn" tour with Dan and my expectations were matched. Cannot... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Bursting with an amazing array of sights, sounds, and smells on every block, a visit to Chinatown feels like entering a different world. It’s a colorful spectacle that gets even more crowded on weekends, when families stream in to enjoy huge dim sum feasts and to stock up at the markets on Mott Street. To take a break from the buzz, grab something sweet from one of the many bakeries in the area and head to Columbus Park, where many Chinatown residents exercise, play games, and chat the day away.
