Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Can't recommend the Tenements, Tales and Tastings Tour enough! Mickey was a fabulous tour guide. We learned so much about the city and the immigrants who made it what it is today. The tastings were delicious! Such an excellent way to get a feel for the city!

Our tour guide was Mickey. She was very knowledgeable about the area including a lot of historical facts, answered questions, and she was there right on time we didn’t have to wait for her our tour started a little early. The tour was great it was a long walk but it was well worth it and we wish we had just a few more food tasting stops but, the ones she took us to were amazing! My family of 3 highly recommends her and her tour!

Our guide, Mickey Pantano, was incredibly knowledgeable about the city, locations, and food genres being toured — along with a supremely gifted narrator for our wonderful trip. We must’ve walked about 3 miles and covered Civic Center, Chinatown, Little Italy, Lower East Side, and others to discover wonderful cuisine and restaurants we otherwise wouldn’t have known. This is the third tour we’ve done with this company — all have been outstanding but this was the best guide, locations, and itinerary. Wonderful for out of Towners or local Manhattanites like us.

This tour was amazing and probably my most favorite thing we did while in NYC! Mickey was our tour guide and she was absolutely fantastic explaining the history of each culture and keeping everyone interested and involved in the tour. I would highly recommend this tour if you want to know interesting background info on how NYC came about.

Tenements, Tales and Tastings Tour is such a fantastic tour! :) I have been to NYC about a dozen times in my life and I was blown away by how much I did not know about the city! Mickey is an amazing guide who has lived in NYC for 30 years and was brimming with history and knowledge. It was great being led by someone who has truly lived NYC and she was able to include some fun personal anecdotes. Mickey is quite the entertainer! We visited so many locations I would have probably walked on by that turned out to be real hidden jewels. This is an experience that will leave you reflecting on the many heritages that built NYC and will make you want to follow up on more research. And then there is food -- Chinese dumplings, pizza, knishes, and empanadas were more than filling and were great accents to our tour. My tip is to watch Gangs of New York before the tour just to get a taste of what the period was like. Plus, bring a water bottle and wear sun screen on the hot days. This would be a great tour for kids too. The food stops along the way will keep them engaged and there are plenty of opportunities for bathroom breaks. Well done, indeed!

Our guide Mickey for the Tenements, Tales and Tastings Tour was very knowledgeable and had personal ties to Little Italy! She shared relevant aspects of the immigrant experience on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. My three sisters and I enjoyed exploring "hole in the wall" places in Chinatown and Little Italy which we otherwise would have missed without an experienced guide. Mickey maintained a perfect pace and the small size of the group allowed for interaction and questions/answer time. Highly recommend for a "first tour" in Manhattan since the early immigrant experiences are so important to an understanding of NYC. Pair this tour with a visit to the Tenement Museum on Orchard Street, and you will know much more than most visitors to The Big Apple! Our only suggestion is to finish the tour with a sweet instead of savory taste of Manhattan (perhaps we suggest this because all four of us have sweet tooths!!!) Thank you, Mickey, for an outstanding tour!

Tenements, Tales and Tastings Tour with Mickey in New York City. This was one of the highlights of our 5 day trip. Mickey, our guide, was outstanding! Her local knowledge was informative, her wit infectious. I highly recommend this tour; always ask for Mickey. The walking tour was easy, the local food tastings yummy, but mainly the history of these areas of New York City was a highlight.

I live in NYC and brought an out-of-town friend on this tour. She and I both loved it, and I couldn’t believe how much I learned, from the best tour guide ever, Mickey. Hoping to bring my husband on this tour soon!!!

Is the 3hr taste tour suitable for an adult who struggles to walk long distances? What’s the rough distance covered and are there breaks with sitting? Thanks anyone for an answer, looks great, just want to check if it’s suitable

My Mum came with us who is 70. She struggled a bit and luckily we were the only ones that turned up that day so we went a bit slower. If it was a full group it wouldn’t be worth it. We stopped quite a bit and sat down at most places. If walking is a problem though it’s probably a bit long.

Hi! A few questions:
Do you run tours in early August?
How long does your typical tour last?
How much per person? (We are a party of six.)
Thanks so much,

Hi
I'm interested in booking a helicopter tour in March. I'm quite a big build and I've heard there is a weight limit. What is this please?

Hi,
We actually don't offer Helicopter tours so unfortunately I can't answer your question. Try contacting Liberty Helicopter.

I'm doing the craft cocktail tour next month. What is an acceptable gratuity for this sort of thing? The standard 15-20% I'm used to at restaurants, salons, etc?

I think it all depends on how much you enjoyed the tour and how appreciative you are for the work the guide put into your experience. We just loved our guide---she made us feel like old friends, so we gave her a nice tip at the end. So ask yourself: how hard did your guide work and how much fun did you have? Is it worth a $10 bill? Or more?
