We regularly visit The Corner Bookstore when in New York. It truly is a wonderful bookstore. Recently, we had a problem with a special order that was delivered to the wrong address, which was not the fault of The Corner Bookstore. When advised of the problem, The Corner Bookstore promptly sent a replacement. Great service combined with a great atmosphere... More

My daughter and I were walking through the neighborhood and stopped in. We had a ball and we each picked out one book, which was difficult.

I was doing a bookshop tour of the Upper East Side and the Corner Bookstore was a highlight of the trip. It was a pleasant space with friendly and informed staffers, and a great selection of titles for a small space. Highlights included a wide travel selection, a foods section focusing on NYC, and a huge selection of books for... More

There are so few of these neighborhood bookstores still in New York City that I stop by from time to time to break the Amazon habit and by a few books to help keep this one alive. If you pass by, please do the same.

A wonderful place to pick up recent literary and nonfiction as well as classics. Extremely well-curated children's section (no trash). Helpful folks at desk.

Lovely bookshop near Central Park. We just found it while wandering around. The display of books was very tempting and I saw a book I was interested in. Despite the fact that it was 6.00 and the bookshop was just about to start a reading/signing event they were kind enough to look for the book and then, as it was... More

This is a delightful, small, but well stocked book shop, in the Carnegie Hill area of New York City. Located on Madison Avenue on the corner of 93rd Street, this shop manages to enchant with its diverse selection of books. Unlike the cavernous, anonymous and impersonal book stores that one finds throughout Manhattan, here the two young men who run... More

Small bookshop but you'll find the latest releases there, as well as a good selection of fiction and non-fiction books, for adults and children alike. Plus, the guys are cool.

Intimate Upper East Side book store, a nostalgic alternative to franchise stores. Absent is the ubiquitous marketing of ordinary books and the sense that an essential condition of buying books is the aroma of coffee beans. Absent too is the notion of organizing the stock according to any of the popular systems (not by author, genre, or title as far... More

My boyfriend LOVES books, so we had to stop into the Corner Bookstore when we were walking around the upper east side. The store is small, but has a decent selection. The staff was knowledgeable and was able to point my boyfriend towards several interesting books. Oh, and did I mention that they have a super friendly gray and white... More

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
