The NYC After Dark Safari was my second tour with New York City Photo Safaris. I'm an ambitious amateur photographer and my goal was to get a better understanding of flash photography. Zim, my instructor, explained all the settings and effects in an easy to understand way; every new setting was practiced with different exercises straight away. Results were reviewed... More

Really brilliant course. Great fun to be shown some views I wouldn't have otherwise seen and picked up some great hints about creative photography! Zim is a very passionate photographer and great tutor - really knowledgeable and patient with everybody and ensures that no-one is left confused. Fantastic! Not only was the course great, but Zim's enthusiasm is so infectious... More

I did the Upshot Safari in October. Zim was passionate at showing us a different angle on photo's of iconic buildings. She spread herself around making sure we all understood the instructions she was giving us so as to get some great photo's. Loved it!

I participated in 2 photo safaris—UPShot and Central Park—both instructed by Zim. These tours have been a highlight of my holiday to NYC so far. Zim is extremely knowledgable with both the technical and creative side to photography and helped me enhance my creative side by thinking more about the fundamentals of composition, not about the gear I am using.... I received this safari adventure as a gift and couldn't be happier with the experience. With Zim at the helm, my two Australian classmates and I were treated to an informative and fun session that left me rethinking how I take photographs. Zim was knowledgable and encouraging and helped me to see how perspective, height, angle, and lighting can really... More

Signed up to do a night photo safari and a morning photo safari and was not disappointed. Zim, the guide is full of energy and zest, has bags of passion for photography and is willing to share here more than 20+ years as a photographer. Learned a lot of new techniques for this new area of photography for me. Highlight... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
