We had a wonderful food tour with Candy! We learned so much about Chinatown, and we enjoyed delicious food. I highly recommend this tour. This was our first visit to New York and it helped so much to have a true New Yorker show us where to go and what to eat. Thanks so much Candy!

We just completed the walking food and drink tour of the East Village and all we can say is AMAZING! We came into NYC for my wifes birthday and this tour did not disappoint. Candy was a true gem! He anecdotes and information about the history, culture and food were priceless. The food we sampled from, Tacos to Falafel to... More

This was our first trip to NYC and taking a food tour was highly recommended. We chose this tour based on the food samples. Candy met us right on time and lead us on an interesting and tasty tour. We enjoyed all the samples of pizza, hot chocolate, Belgian fries, Italian rice ball, Vietnamese sandwich, cupcake wars winner cupcake, and... More

Candy was a genuine gem that was a legitimate local who knew Chinatown in and out. We learned so much about the different foods from all areas of China. The Chinese bakery was my favorite! Candy , thanks for making us feel like locals.

I loved this tour because it brought me to restaurants that I never would have thought to go to otherwise. Many hole-in-the-wall type places that were local favourites and had AMAZING food. Candy was a great guide, she was very knowledgable and obviously very passionate about food. She also knew a lot about the history of each cuisine and restaurant... More

Great Experience! Candy was great, very insightful, and took Us to sample some amazing food, which I never would have known about, giving Us entertaining info and stories about it. My kids, 8 and 11, who are usually picky about The things they eat, tried eveything, loved everything, and had a great great time.

I booked this tasting tour for my mother's birthday. We ended up being the only two people in the group! But our guide, Candy, still made such an effort for us. She was extremely personable and very knowledgable about Chinatown, it's food, it's history, as well as the wider history of New York and the Asian culture globally. We felt... More

All restaurants had seating and you weren't leaving with a greasy paper bag but this is not considered fine dining; thank goodness. I love food and enjoy getting acquainted with a neighborhood by enjoying food the locals eat. We started with falafel that was perfect! So fresh, so flavorful! We moved on to tacos, pastor tacos with everything housemade. I'm... More

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
