Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This theatre is all about choosing the right seat. The mezzanine offers the best view of all of the details of the current show in this theatre (Hadestown). The men’s restrooms are in the stairway one flight up from orchestra on the right side of the house, and women’s restrooms are the same but on house left. The balcony gets very warm, but the rear mezz is a bit cooler when the show is on and the lights are out. If you sit in the back row, you’ll occasionally hear the bartender and ushers whispering.

The Walter Kerr Theater os one of the 40+ major theater houses in the Theater District. It was named for Mr. Kerr who was the long time theater critic for the New York Times. It is a proscenium arch theater. Very good sight lines. For women, I suggest you go to the bathroom before the show. The lines for the ladies room are very long. Saw "Hadestown" this time.

This is a small broadway theatre with great sound and presentation. Unfortunately, with this small size comes long lines and difficulties with common facilities, so order ahead for drinks and plan wash room needs accordingly. Also, seats are tight, so select as you feel best for your needs.

Loved the small, old theatre with its decorative gold leaf designs, ornate ceiling decorations, and large murals. The theater’s unique details make it a neat spot to see a show. We sat front row Mezzanine & had a great view of the stage. Hadestown is worth seeing on Broadway or on its national tour.

This theater was very cramped. We had seats center of the first row on the mezzanine and beware that legroom is sparse here, which was not great for my 6'4" husband. The bathroom lines snake down the stairs and the bar line snakes up the stairs. Even the merchandise and drinks have to be purchased from the back of the theater.

Saw stunning performance of Hadestown here _ April, 2023. Beautiful older theater. 2 suggestions
1. Go to restroom before performance. Facilities are very limited and lines are huge
2. Buy merch and drinks before performance. Again, very small area in which to purchase and mobbed during intermission and after performance

I went to the Walter Kerr theatre with my daughter to see Hadestown. Both the theatre and the show were amazing. Great venue and we had seats in the front row. Very close to the show, but still comfortable to watch and really engaging.

This theater is beautiful and the staff is very friendly and extremely helpful. My friend has a disability and she uses a walker. The usher assisted her until she got seated, asked if she was going to need it during the intermission and promptly came to help her with the walker at the end of the show.
Bravo!!!!!👏🏼

Recently attended Springsteen on Broadway with my GF at the Walter Kerr Theatre. This theatre is located in the Theatre District in Times Square, NYC on 48th Street between 7th and 8th Avenue. Although our seats were in the orchestra, due to the relatively small size of this theatre, any seat would be a good seat. In regard to the orchestra seating, there are roughly 10 seats in the right and left orchestra seating and approximately 20 seats in the center orchestra. While the seats are close together as well as the rows, the theatre seating was comfortable. Note that there is no Coat check. The theatre offered two small bars that offered drinks and snacks on the orchestra level. The sound was excellent. Directly across the street from the theatre are several restaurants and bars. The nearest hotel if staying in the city is the Renaissance Hotel. This hotel was excellent, see my review. ...enjoy the show.

This was the first theatre I experienced in NYC (seeing 'Gentleman's Guide...'), and I was fascinated by the utter lack of public space. I soon learned that this was typical for Broadway theatres, however it may pay novices to note the following:

1. There is NO foyer. Just an entrance wide enough to accommodate the box office at one end. The bars and merchandise stands sit at the rear of the auditorium. There is absolutely no personal space available in this theatre.
2. The seats are a little smaller than what I consider usual. Leg room is minimal, however as a 5'11 male my knees didn't touch the seat in front; I had a small backpack with me though, which was a real inconvenience.
3. For all the problems its small size incurs, the theatre is wonderfully intimate. I sat 4 rows from the back of the Orchestra, and the view was superb. You really don't need to fork out for premium seats to have a good view. (At the time I booked, even the two seats on the end of each row were price-hiked - testament I guess to the theatre's reputation for limited leg-room).
