I was walking down 5th avenue and decided to check this out. The architecture is very nice and it looks older than it probably is. It only takes about twenty minutes to look it over. But very nice

An outstanding church in Midtown NYC on 5th Avenue completed in 1914. The high altar and great reredos is an impressive piece of architecture and the organ facing the altar, and the circular stained glass window above and behind it is beautiful. The stained glass windows in St. Thomas are again something to be admired. Designed by the great English... More

We had gone in the church to see the interior and found that they had a Holy Eucharist service on Christmas Eve at 12:10 PM. Since we are both Episcopalian we decided to attend the service rather than the one at midnight due to the lateness and the possibility of large crowds. It was an excellent service and we were... We popped in here just for a quick look. It was beautiful and so peaceful, compared to St Patrick's it felt more real and much less touristy. Loved it here, one of the unexpected highlights of our trip.

Spent an hour at the Carols Service and it was lovely listening and singing with the boys choir. A beautiful building. Well worth popping in just to see the inside of the gorgeous church.

I always try to stop at a place of worship when I travel. St Thomas Church just called my name as I walked by. I stopped in to check it out and it's beautiful. If you like churches and stained glass, take a peek at this beautiful place!

A large parish church opened in 1913. Designed by Ralph Adams Cram and Bertram Goodhue. Built using limestone and sandstone and modern methods in the French High Gothic Revival style. The stained glass is designed by the great English designer James Hogan and made by James Powell and Sons of London but has been over restored in my opinion. The... More

Beautiful and huge Gothic-style church. For visitors to the city, this is a good place to stop by for pictures and to temporarily escape the hustle and bustle of 5th Avenue.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
