This tour is very interesting and shows a fascinating side of New York's street art. Jeremy, our tour guide, was excellent; he not only explained the story behind each artwork and artist he also gave us a most comprehensive overview of street art. We highly recommend this tour.

This is a great place to go for old time New York deli food. Unlike anywhere else in the US. Not like it was in the 60's and 70's, but still worth a visit.

I enjoyed the lower east side. It has a bit of a different feel than other sections of Manhattan. The restaurants and shops have more of a quaint feel and there are several nice dining options. There are several historic buildings that are interesting to view. This is a fun place to spend an afternoon exploring.

It was a very nice area to discover. We found a lot of nice gems in here and enjoyed that we were not surrounded with hundreds of tourists! :-)

I was somewhat disappointed in my 2 day stay in this neighborhood. I arrived on a Saturday afternoon and wandered the neighborhood looking for a restaurant that was not overflowing with drinking patrons nor a fast food establishment. Never found one. Lots of graffiti and trash everywhere. No friendly responses when I said "hello". I was told by a cabbie... More

We walked for miles in and out of side streets. There was a lot of hidden gems there. Ludlow Street has a lot of niche bars and stores.

Wonderfully interesting neighborhood. Dozens of restaurants, good exploring by walking, wide mix of shops and eateries.

Stayed 2 nights on Ludlow st, in Lower East; and was struck by the vibrancy and diversity of the neighborhood. Enjoyed exploring the streets, with its village feel, hip budget Latino eateries and graffiti walls. Can be busy, noisy and even rowdy in the evenings. Has a distinct younger demographic

this part of the city is inhabited by Jewish immigrants and its a wondrous place to explore a new culture. You get Asians in China Town, Italians at Little Italy, West Indians at Liberty Ave. etc and walking through these places gives you an idea of what their culture is like. Very interesting visit.

Staying in Lower East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Lower East Side
Straddling the bridge between New York’s thriving immigrant past and its modern transformation into a beacon of global art and culture, the Lower East Side is one of the most dynamic neighbourhoods in the city. The blocks of tenements that represented the promise and blight of the Lower East Side immigrant experience now command top dollar for new residents. Right next to old-world delis, 24-hour bodegas, and the garment shops of Orchard Street, you’ll find hip clubs, fashionable bistros, and luxury hotels beckoning at all hours of the evening. If you love nightlife and live music, it’s hard to beat the scene here.
