This beautiful fountain has a prominent position, at the entrance to Central Park as one walks up 5th Avenue. So there are a lot of people around it to enjoy its grace and water. A classic design that gets you in the mood for the wonderful park.

Pulitzer Fountain in front of Grand Army Plaza on 5th Avenue in NYC is very pretty. Certainly worth a photo stop when walking on 5th Avenue.

Beautiful and busy place. Spring is especially lovely - please see pictures below. Lots of food and touring options offered here - both for Central Park and Manhattan.

Outside the southern end of Central Park at the top of 5th Avenue. Excellent fountain that unfortunately currently has no water flowing!

This is one of the gems in Central Park. It's a beautifully-designed fountain from another era, a time of classics. It's in the center of one of the popular areas, so be prepared for crowds.

Really attractive Fountain in Central Park. It’s worth a stop off for a few photos. The water was not flowing so bit average.

We stopped here after walking through Central Park. It was nice to see. We sat here and enjoyed a snack, and then moved on.

One of the impressive things to see at Grand Army Square at the Southeast corner of Central Park is the ornamental Pulitizer Fountain, situated at the southern end of the square at 59th Street.

This is a large 22-ft high fountain designed by Austrian-American sculptor Karl Bitter in 1916. At the top is a Allegorical bronze statue of Pomona the goddess of abundance. She is holding a basket of fruit on the left side of her body.

Beneath the statue are a series of basins which grow in size as water pours from one to anther in a stepped pattern. The bottom two basin levels include ornamental shell designs and spillovers. Two ornamental horn structures flank the sides of the fountain as well. These add nicely to the overall attractiveness of the Pulitzer Fountain.

Unfortunately, the fountain wasn't in operation during our recent visit. This was disappointing as I've enjoyed viewing this particular fountain in NYC during previous visits.
