Fantastic opportunity to see Harvey Fierstein up close in a dramatic role. The show recounts notable milestones in the history of gay rights while depicting a romance between two men from different generations and backgrounds. Is it perfect? No. But is the excellent? Yes. It is very exciting to see work as it is nurtured and developed. I think this... More

This was amazing! I decided to check it out when I realized that David Byrne did the music...Wow!! This was truly a great night if entertainment! As we left the theater, we couldn't help telling ourselves that this is what it must have felt like when people saw Hamilton at the beginning. Can't say enough great things about this...Staging, costumes,... More

This venue is great because it's same and the sound is excellent! Be aware there is a 15$ minimum food purchase or 2 drink minimum per person. If you get a booth be aware they are so very uncomfortable. There are no springs or support in the seating of the benches. I am 40 and average build. I just found... More

Every time I get a ticket to one of the shows at The Public, I am not disappointed. Not every show is Hamilton. But I did not expect a Hip-Hop show to blow me away. So take a chance and get a ticket to anything they offer !

We saw Hamlet. It was being presented at the Public after touring to 18 locations throughout the area to bring theater to under-served communities. For me, this will live in my memory as one of the best productions of Shakespeare I have ever seen. I love that this place produces interesting, socially conscious work and does not sacrifice quality while... More

My husband and I went to see Plena Libre from Puerto Rico- great performance with Latin music, everyone was on their feet and applauding. It's a great place to see any performance - all seats are good. The food - burger and abundance of fries hit the spot. Plenty of drinks to choose from - from cocktails to beer. I... More

Privacy, the word about which this play is written is someone ambivalent. This play is enticing drawing you into the sometimes terrifying realities of how much our smartphones reveal about our very natures. This play is both brilliantly written and acted. The play uses Script brilliant actors and the audience to play out a story that gives much pause for... More

Do you enjoy cutting edge Broadway productions? Do you wince at exorbitant ticket prices? The Public is one of the great pathways to the Great White Way for experimental and emerging talent. Hamilton was first produced here, as was Stomp, Passing Strange and many more groundbreaking plays and musicals. We try to make a show here whenever we're in town... More
