If you are clever you can time it for a tour of the upper catwalks

Been under construction forever, had a fire and started again, strangest giant thing in its location, amazing as reliefs on the facade (look for them, I won't spoil the surprise).

Tourists usually don't make it up this far on the Upper West Side. If you are taking someone to see Columbia University, it's worth taking this in as well. Can't believe how large it is. Can probably fit 2 St. Patrick's Cathedral in it.

This place is beautiful. It's quiet, and serene, and you can walk around slowly admiring all of the architecture, and ornate details. There are porticos which are each different. The scale of the main space is massive! This is a must see in NYC!

On a clear day, there is a spectacular view from the top of the cathedral. The climb is worth it; the guide was very interesting and so knowledgeable. It was amazing to be up close to the upper stained glass window. Take time to view the other parts of the he cathedral too!

Hiding in plain site on the Upper East Side, I've loved this place since first discovering it in Middle School. The sheer size and grandness of it (it's the equivalent of two football fields and a tennis court from end to end) never fails to amaze. It's unfortunate that it will likely never be finished, but even incomplete, it's one... More

The Cathedral is awesome--as in it awes one. It is grand and holy and inspiring. The chapels are beautiful, the cathedral is as welcoming as it is enormous, the windows are lovely, the gift shop is lovely, and the overall feeling is profoundly spiritual. Quite a beautiful place to visit and worship.

This is a must see if you are near Harlam. Such an amazing church. One like this is usually only seen in Europe. Get a guided tour because their are so many interesting things to learn about this beautiful church. It is amazing.

This huge cathedral has the best architecture I have ever seen and been. Tourists are allowed to go inside with a donation to get in. They suggest $10 but it is up to you to give how much you want. Go in every corner of this cathedral. There are some displays inside the cathedral. I am recommending everyone to see... More

Impressive building. Did not have time to wait for formal tour, but were able to walk around on our own. Subway ride to the top of Central Park then a short walk to the church. Worth the trip.
