Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our voyage on the QM2 was very nice, our most recent of several Atlantic crossings. That said, the dis-embarkment process is definitely a complicated, hectic undertaking. For anyone not familiar with NYC or not a native English speaker, it is a daunting process. A few comments may be useful to others.

First, for some reason, Cunard provides very little, if any, information prior to leaving the ship. Last year, there was an extraordinary weather event which caused local flooding but absolutely non of this information was provided to the departing passengers. I think Cunard could do much more to make people aware of the environment after Immigration and Customs control.

Upon departure, there are taxies and various buses, but it is not clear what is what. The official taxies outside the departure area are yellow and I green. These are metered by the city. There are limitation by the city on how these taxis operate, so be aware that if a Brooklyn taxi picks you up and you are going to Manhattan, they are prevented from picking up a passenger in Manhattan after you leave. Understanding this, the cost premium makes more sense, these folks have to make a living as well.

Beware of many other "independent" taxies offering rides, these are not official and caution is suggested. One that approached me had an immediate car, but when I asked if they took credit, his response was that he only took Zelle, which is a banking app that transfers money directly from your bank account. There have been many articles related to abuses with the system, and essentially this is like giving someone access to your bank account. So go with an official taxi. There is no way I would consider this offer.

You can use Uber, but the process is very confusing. First check the cost and see how it compares with a normal taxi. There does not seem to be an official area where an Uber is to pick up passengers, so you will likely have to text the driver to connect. Just be aware.

The easiest approach may be to arrange transfer to the city or airport with Cunard directly prior to departure. The is certainly the easiest, the difference may be in the cost. Check the cost, but if it is per person, which I'm quite sure it is, the cost could be double the taxi. Certainty and ease may be worth the added expense.

In our case, we paid $80 plus $20 tip to go to Penn Station, Moynihan Train Hall in Manhattan. Pricy, but this is NYC and at a peak demand time. One can use this as a bench mark and decide what is appropriate.

I hope this helps. Good traveling.

As per other reviews the taxi never showed. We arranged through an agent and received a voucher with no pick up location so emailed direct for clarification, but with no response. The agent had better luck and arranged for them to pick us up from our hotel. They didn’t turn up at the agreed time, so I tried to call them on the number provided, which was an answering service who took my details, but I never received a call back. The agent is investigating.

We had a great hour in a great car with a great driver. Always been fans of the TV series "Taxi" and wanted to drive over the 59th Street Bridge (Queensborough Bridge) in a Checker just like the opening sequence. The car collected us from our hotel exactly as agreed and despite the fact that there was a parade and half of Manhattan was closed, our driver (Frank) managed to negotiate everything and we had a fantastic time. The traffic meant that we actually ran over the hour but he still allowed us to take extra photos when we got out. There's more than one company doing this type of thing...be sure and use thecheckercab.com they're first class.

Since we started traveling with 4 adults with 4 carry-ons and 4 checked bags we have used Nassau Cab Company for going to the airport. Sam has been our driver each time. There aren't enough words to express how great Sam is, but here are some - attentive, professional, caring, helpful, responsible, excellent driver and a super nice person. We deal directly with Sam to arrange our transportation via text. He promptly texts back. We decide together on a pick-up time. We can pay him with cash or by credit card (there is a small fee for using the card). He is punctual and always gets us to the airport on time. He goes beyond what a driver normally does, doing anything he can to help us. He picks us up at one address, then goes a couple blocks away to pick up my son and his wife. We are so very pleased with Sam and Nassau Cab.

DO NOT BOOK THIS TOUR!!!!!
I booked this tour in August for my husband's birthday. I called and confirmed before we left for NYC. Once in NYC i called the phone number on the voucher at least 7 times and just kept getting an answering service that continually told me that they were sorry and will send an urgent message to the tour representative. I explained no one ever calls and i would like to speak to or get a number to call myself. They kept apologizing and saying they would send an urgent message. Well we waited at the location on the voucher for over 30 minutes and never received a call or a driver. We were STOOD UP ! Never received a call, email nothing at all and i am out hundreds of dollars.

I cannot express enough to anyone who reads this review, do not book this tour! This company is a scam. Here is our experience. I booked this tour through Viator.com (I have used them several times before and never had any issues). Paid our money up front. Received our booking reference number and email. Printed off our voucher and was ready for the tour. This tour was booked for our 1st day in New York. We land, go to hotel, check in, go to metro, buy our metro cards for week and navigate the subway all the way to our meeting location in Brooklyn. We get there around 2:20pm our tour is for 3pm. At 2:40pm I call company for a confirmation and they say they will get a hold of our tour guide. At 2:55pm, I have had no response, I call again, a little more agitated because no confirmation. I question the person on other end and she says she will email a person. I ask for a number to “a person” and she says they are only an answering service and this is the information they have so I ask for email. I email “the person” with no response. At 3:05pm I call back, LIVID and demand they give me a name and a number. I am screaming on my end of the phone. The lady gives me same line and I say what do you mean you don’t know anything? She then proceeds to tell me her company answers phones for several business not just this tour company and she can only give the information she has been given which is NOTHING - no owner name, no phone number, she doesn’t even have a voucher number or my name! So Furious, I relinquish to the fact that I have been duped. I would like to say it gets better but unfortunately Viator.com has really disappointed me as well. I immediately call them and I get a women who says she will have to investigate and it will take 7-10 business days but they will get back to me. Well 12 business days pass, NOTHING! I call again and I get another person and he says they can’t get a hold of the company “really?” They say they will have to inquire further. I asked for the name of a manger but did not receive a response on that either. Today I finally called back and asked to speak to a manager and after going through the situation all over again for the 100th time, I finally got to speak to someone who would actually do something. I have sent in 4 emails, I made 3 or 4 phone calls and spoke to at least 4 people, and have told the story over and over till I am “blue in the face” as the expression goes. The manager finally has refunded my stolen money but the point is that this is a SCAM and I would hate for other people’s vacations to be ruined like ours was. So please heed my words and do not book this tour. I have asked Viator.com to remove this tour as it breaks trust with that company as well and they said they would look in to it. How much more looking do you need?

I booked this tour for my wife birthday and it was just amazing. Everyone loved the tour and the car was simply the cherry on top. Even though it was snowing, the car was in great shape with heat and everything. A great historical and New York experience all tied up in one! Definitely going to do it again when im in town again

This was such a great experience... Robert was wonderful and the cab was amazing. We went to three breweries and all were very different. The beer at each one was unique and different just as the breweries were. I highly recommend this for a fun night with friends. There was bar food at the stops but I recommend you eat before or after.
