The museum admission is reasonable, but since the currency exhibit was closed when we went there, admission was free. At first I was disappointed, but there was plenty to see. The story of the development of the National Banks and the Fed was very well presented. There were many interesting old machines. There was a ticker tape from the Great... More

There are a wide variety of exhibits--historic coins, a debt clock, fun facts about banks and stocks--and an amazing room of Alexader Hamilton artifacts and stories about him. Take the guided tour-the docents are enthusiastic and make history come alive.

The museum recently became affiliated with the Smithsonian, which should do much to improve the exhibitions, but with that said, MAF is worth a stop if you're in the Financial District. The exhibitions are clear, interesting and informative and unbiased in their presentations. Definitely not for kids or hedge fund managers, but very illuminating for everyone in between.

I separated from the family for the morning as it's a museum I've always wanted to visit after 3 trips to NYC. I wasn't disappointed and spent nearly 2 hours there. An excellent and well laid out display telling the story of people like Alexander Hamilton and his part in creating the financial system America benefits from today. See the... More

What do you know about the Gold Standard, our currency, the Bond Market, The Stock Market, The Commodity Market? If the answer is very little, take a subway to Wall Street and visit the Museum of American Finance. All those topics and more are covered in exhibits at the museum. For most visitors there is more information here than they... More

I have walked past this before and thought it might be a bit dull - but it was far from that. There is an admission charge but as some exhibits were not available on the day, I got in for free - bargain - but left a donation which goes to financial education initiatives. Part of the Smithsonian Institute, this... More

Small but fascinating museum with interesting and informative displays explaining the history of our financial system, in layman's terms. And even if you're well versed in the subject, you'll probably pick up a few new tidbits here. The space is also worth seeing - it was formerly the headquarters of the Bank of New York, and is quite opulent.

This museum has exhibits explaining the bond, stock and commodities markets. Their location on Wall Street seems fitting given the subject matter. They also had a couple temporary exhibits. On was on gold and the other was about paper currency. I enjoyed the exhibits although I thought they could have been a bit more extensive.

Dated exhibits that don't address most recent financial crisis. Ignores the negative impact of financial excess on everyday Americans. Good exhibit on Hamilton and currency.
