Visiting Liberty Park is well worth a detour. The memorial is very moving and beautifully executed, after many years of planning. And the area is filled with other interesting sites such as the Calatrava Oculus. Easily accessible by subway.

This is a place to reflect and honor the victims. It is a special place. The names of all the the people who perished are written along the side of the monument.

Once you go to the 9/11 museum, come here and reflect for a while, please be respectful and avoid being loud, taking selfies, etc. A lot of New Yorkers and people all over the world lost someone here.

The site is well done and tribute to all that were lost that day. This is nice area to walk around and view the monuments. Be aware guards will not let you lean on the wall around this monument.

If you only have a short time to visit NYC, make WTC Liberty Park area your first destination. Easy to get there on E Train from Midtown: 5th and 53rd St. direct to WTC. In addition to the amazing WTC complex, the Oculus (magnificent architecture!)...More

Solemn, quiet, dignified. It's a place of contemplation, so well done and brings back vivid memories of that day. So much more to say but best one sees and feels for oneself.

You would have to get the subway up to Penn station which is about 10-15 mins on the A,C or E track.
