Expensive, confusing, hut worth it
Nov. 2021 • Friends
This is a really packed gallery. There is something for everyone here, from statues to paintings to other firms of art and history. Only two things to mention here, the food is otherworldly expensive (14 dollars for a sandwich wrap! 7 dollars for a coffee from a dispenser/urn) and although free maps are presented the layout and floorplan is massively confusing and difficult to navigate. It does seem largely accessable but the route required to see everything is winding at best. Again the giftshop is very expensive but this is the met so as expected.

Metro

It’s so old and nice to see the history of the new ideas and architecture even though it’s about the metrostation. Great to see

Always a treat
Nov. 2021
Love the Met and have been here before, but this time I saw it through the eyes of my youngest child. Thank you for the increasing diversity of collections and exhibits. I especially enjoyed the Afro-Futurist Period Room.

Book-ended my Paris trip of 2019 with this, for the French art!

I was pleasantly surprised how wonderful this museum is. So many wonderful artists and many I didn't know were in the museum. I ate a snack at the cafe which was nice. Highly recommend!

Don’t use ANY of the cafeterias at The Met NewYork
Nov. 2021 • Couples
We visited both the Cafe and the Eatery - both had appalling sandwiches and food in general. The Eatery didn’t even have trays on which to put your food & drinks! The bill was $70 for two sandwiches, two yoghurt pots and two coffees!
AVOID AT ALL COSTS - RIP OFF.
We threw all our food in the bin.

Ridiculous wait to get in
Nov. 2021 • Family
Two separate points here to discuss…
-The Museum itself is wonderful. Beautiful exhibits and exactly what one would expect.
-It’s a hot mess trying to get in. We waited 40 minutes outside in the rain; in the “you won’t have to wait in line if you buy our advance ticket” line. Either they’re understaffed or horrible at logistics.

A vast world-class art collection that must be seen to appreciate
Oct. 2021
This was our first visit to The Met in more than 10 years, so we were prepared to spend several hours there. Arriving at 10am, we made our way into the museum, walking through the Greek and Roman sculpture courtyard before making our way to The Great Hall and into The Temple of Dendur. What an awesome piece of history and art! Wandering through the American Wing, we enjoyed the Art of Native America; the Aesthetic, Tiffany, and Arts and Crafts; Frank Lloyd Wright's
Francis Little House Living Room; the Paintings galleries; and so much more. Engelhard Court is so open and filled with such wonderful works by Saint-Gaudens, Louis Sullivan, Tiffany, Wright, and others that you have to just sit to take it all in. After a quick bite in the cafe, we hit the European Wing galleries arranged by artist. The work of the Impressionists fills more than a dozen galleries, each arranged by artist so that you can see the full range of an artist's work over time. We walked through more than once. A highlight has to the 20+ Monet works, including the Water Lilies. While we saw much of the museum, we know that their were other highlights missed. Recommend that one research the art collection in order to prioritize what you want to see in the time you've allotted.

Too Much of a Good Thing?

An incredible museum that requires several visits to to take in everything it has to offer. If you cannot make multiple visits, then it is highly recommended that you enlist the services of a good tour guide.

A world class museum
Jul. 2021 • Couples
Amazing museum with something for every taste. Reserved entry time is a necessity unless you want to stand in a huge line outside. Lots of knowledgeable staff to answer questions. Truly a world class museum.
