About Trinity Church

Trinity Church, located at Broadway and Wall Street, is an active Episcopal church with a deep history. In 1697, a little over 70 years after the Dutch settled New York as a trading post known as New Amsterdam, Trinity Church was granted a charter by King William III of England. Since then, Trinity has been an integral part of New York City. Today, Trinity Church and St. Paul’s Chapel (just a few blocks north) are the cornerstones of Trinity Church Wall Street, a growing and vibrant Episcopal community.

Worship services are offered in Trinity Church throughout the week, including morning and evening prayer and a noonday Eucharist every weekday. On Sunday, the Trinity community gathers for Holy Eucharist at 9am and 11:15am, which is webcast live. All are invited to attend. Music by Trinity’s renowned choir is integrated into many of the services and free concerts are held throughout the fall and spring. Find a calendar of worship services, concerts, and other events here.

The steeple’s 12 change-ringing bells are the only set in the United States; they rotate a full 360 degrees, producing a shimmering, cascading sound in a complex combination of changing tonal patterns. They can be heard on Sundays and special occasions.

The present building is the third on the site, consecrated in 1846 and designed by British-born architect Richard Upjohn in the 19th century Gothic Revival style. The first church was lost in New York’s Great Fire of 1776 and the second was demolished in 1839, at Upjohn’s suggestion, after heavy snowfall revealed structural problems. The current building is a registered National Historic Landmark.

Visitors to the church can view the decorative bronze doors at the Broadway entrance; see some of the oldest stained glass in the United States; or stop for a moment to pray in the nave or All Saint’s Chapel, located in the northwest corner of the church. Trinity’s churchyard is also open to visitors who wish to see the gravesite of Alexander Hamilton and other historical memorials and monuments, or enjoy a moment of quiet in the midst of busy Lower Manhattan.

Free guided tours are offered Monday-Friday at 2pm and Sundays after the 11:15am service. Trinity’s Tour app also provides a virtual guide through Trinity and St. Paul’s Chapel. Free Visitors Guides in five languages are also available in the Church Gift Shop.

a truly terrific stop. Not just that Hamilton, Fulton ,Schuyler are buried here but the church itself is remarkably relaxing and very beautiful. The stain glasswork is artistry. Intricately tied to the history of NYC and the country.

Well worth a visit inside if your passing by. We've stayed at a hotel nearby and walked by several times and this time I wanted to go in. The detail and architecture is amazing. Definitely won't be seeing buildings like this much in the future.

For a little history in the Wall Street area, visit Trinity Church. George Washington visited the church right after his inaugural! Of course, it's not the same one as the one onsite right now, but, it was at this location. The parish has existed for the last 300 years and the current incarnation was consecrated in 1846 and is a... More

What a absolutely beautiful church! And it has an amazing history to go with it. I sat in the sanctuary and was in awe by the beauty. I ventured out in the rain to wander through the cemetery and stop at the markers for Eliza and Alexander Hamilton.

All around you are skyscrapers and then you happen to find this beautiful piece of architecture right in the middle of it all. The stained glass windows and carvings all around the church were beautiful. Worth a stop to walk through and see everything it has to offer.

This amazing church is both stunning to look at during and day and at night. If you have a few minutes and you can go inside, I recommend you go in to take in the stunning architecture and stained glass. Amongst all the modern high rises of Wall Street, this is an amazing gem.

I was just walking by in a rush for a meeting and I kept turning my head back to look at this beautiful historical church and its cemetery. Many inscriptions on the headstones/graves have been erased with time. Some are dating back the 1700’s. The church has a distinguish beautiful unique style, solid character in the middle of the financial... More

I was actually looking for the Wall Street when I came to this imposing and cute church. It is just across the road at the beginning of the Wall street. There many tourists going in, so I joined them for a short historical visit. Nice traditional church architecture.
