Overview
More
Grand Central Terminal is the most extraordinary public space in New York City. Opened to the public in 1913, this historic train terminal is a world-famous landmark in Midtown. Its rich history is a story of immense wealth and great engineering. Grand Central is one of the busiest train stations in the world, with approximately 750,000 visitors every day. It is the home of Metro-North Railroad, a subway station, iconic restaurants, shops, and the world's most alluring Apple Store. Some of the highlights to see along your tour of Grand Central include the opal-faced clock, valued at $20 million, above the Information Booth, the Largest Tiffany Glass Clock in the World below the 48-foot, 1500-ton Transportation statue overlooking 42nd Street at Park Avenue, and the mystifying acoustics of the Whispering Gallery in front of the Oyster Bar and Restaurant. Audio and guided tours are available for those with a passion for history. More information regarding tours and ways to plan your visit can be found on the Grand Central Terminal website.

One of my favourite places in New York - absolutely loved this building - gorgeous main area with fab windows and marbled floors and walls. Lots of coffee and eating places to jus sit and take it all in. A gem of a place.

A must see experience for the beauty of this station. Find the corner where the acoustics allow you to whisper a message to your friends across the square. Great place to eat and shop as well. But try to avoid rush hours. It is a...More

Grand Central is the most beautiful station I’ve seen. After exploring it which won’t take long, have lunch on either the ground floor or the lower level where there is a massive food court including an upscale oyster bar. 🍾

Nothing like the movies. Actually it is more impressive when you see it in real life! It is extremely easy to get the train, don't miss the chance. There are plenty of coffee shops around. Just standing there while watching people as they move always...More

Beautiful building! Must see in NYC. We got a little lost trying to find the shuttle back to Times Square but always ask a NYPD officer because they are helpful.

An amazing building and so pleased some of these sites have been saved and restored. Well worth getting the audio tour headsets and the accompanying map. Without this you will not know the history of the building.

Beautiful building and architecture, the ceiling in the main hall is amazing, the windows the retro time clock in the information desk, it’s worth a visit. There is also a huge apple store on the first floor. Many choices of food in the basement.

Also a must see even if you don't travel by train, go in just to see the decor and maybe a drink at the bar.

Hi Gina G -- please visit Metro-North Railroad's website to view Train Schedules. You will want to look at the Hudson line for train times to Beacon, NY.

not sure how far the actual store is but Penn Station is likely your best option from BWI to NYC. Once at Penn Station take a cab--faster.
