The Museum and Art Center has a wealth of information on the cavern and surrounding touring areas. The cavern itself is a self guided tour that has a u-turn path that descends 750 ft down. No worries if the walking seems much, it also has an elevator that will take you up and down. Midway down is a rest area... More

First visit to the caverns for my whole family! We enjoyed it! It's a REALLY steep walk down. My son decided "at the dark whole" that it was too scary so we hiked back up to the visitors center and took the elevator down. My daughter and husband walked it,it took them about 40 minutes. Once we were all together... More

After the really wonderful experience down in the cave, took some time to look around upstairs. They do have a nice gift shop and then we decided to have a little lunch there. Say, if you are thinking of going to the next closest National Park, that would be Guadalupe National Park, which is going West of there, eat something... More

This was a beautiful experience. Although it was a little tough for us adults and the 4 year old, it's worth it. My husband and little one only walked down about 30min worth, i walked all the way down with my 15year old and 10 year old & then waited the hour-wait for the elevator ride back up to the... More

My Grandfather has told me about the caverns my whole life & they did not disappoint! You can't even fathom the vastness until you are standing in the middle of it. Literally took my breath away. I could have wandered around for hours & not been able to take it all in. So incredibly beautiful!

Carlsbad Caverns is an amazing experience. Be prepared for long waits to ride the elevator back up. The walk down is not bad. The Big Room is incredible. Carlsbad is a must see!

We have been to Carlsbad three times over the last 40 years. What a difference time makes. The visitors center is really pleasant to be in. We took the Natural Entrance and Big Room self guided tours. We found that any of the ranger led tours needed reservations many weeks ago which does not allow for much wandering. We were... More

This has to be one of the most amazing National Park around. First, don't go during Spring Break long waits but still worth it. We took the elevator down and walked out. You really learn what shape your in. Make sure to eat before as food is scarce. We loved the different formations. The youth of our day need to... More
