Who me? On stage? Yup.

I love music, but I love my hearing too much to frequent these kinds of places. So what could have brought me in to such a den of noise? I was not enthralling the crowds with my... read more

This is my favorite HOB in regards to SD and LA. The sound here is just amazing and the food is delicious. The staff are great and the drinks are not watered down but pack a punch. The value is beyond what you pay.

This venue felt smaller than expected, but turned out to be quite intimate and awesome once the bands started playing. Appreciated that they have a "merch" room that also had a bar, restrooms, and seating area that you could escape the loudness of the stage for just a bit. Would recommend paying extra to get a seat in the upstairs... More

Just saw Leela James & Daley @ HOB ...completely amazing The HOB is the perfect venue for an almost private concert....not one bad seat in the house and the liquor and food are equally on point.

I love music, but I love my hearing too much to frequent these kinds of places. So what could have brought me in to such a den of noise? I was not enthralling the crowds with my vocal abilities. Oh, no. I was part of a socio-political performance art piece. It was surreal to perform there- surreal is my normal... More

Had a large dinner with about 20 people. Service was pretty slow. Food was OK and good music. Good selection of beers.

Really terrible acoustics. Almost no table seating. Fair bar service. In other words, just about as bad as you can get for a music venue. (This is NOT a critique of the acts booked here, which often would be highly rated but for the annoying experience of seeing them in this dump.)

I was attending a conference at the convention center for several days. One of the sponsors booked out the entire House of Blues for a night for conference attendees. The food was great, and the music was even better. The only downside was that when it was packed it has hard to get around through a lot of the narrow... More

We had dinner here and the food was excellent! It's located in the Gaslamp quarter and was only a few blocks from our hotel. We were surprised by how delicious ALL of our dishes were! There was a group of us and we started out the meal sharing appetizers. The calamari was quite tender and flavorful and the jalapeño cornbread was... More

Saw Sublime with Rome there on Saturday, November 14th. My instincts tell me that the the venue was over capacity that night. The acoustics in the venue were also bad as all we could hear was bass and drums,It was very difficult to hear vocal or even Rome's guitar. Also had a fight break out in front of us but... More
