We have visited San Diego often, over the last 30 years. On our last visit June/July 2014 we were impressed with the changes, especially Gaslamp, as there were a lot of new restaurants around and Horton Plaza was getting a new public seating area. On this trip, many of the restaurants have closed and the Gaslamp area is looking 'tacky'... More

Lots to see and do at the Embarcadero and Seaport Village. Nice walk, trolley or pedicabs. A great chance from zoos and theme parks.

Downtown is super busy and slightly overwhelming if you aren't used to city driving. But, the downtown area is beautiful and full of culture.

Downtown is undergoing some big changes. Last night Billy Joel was playing to a sold out crowd in the stadium and downtown was alive and jumping with activities. Always a good time wherever you wind up.

My girlfriend and I enjoy good fish tacos, visiting micro breweries and the ocean. We received all three with our visit. There are many local breweries that we visited and had some wonderful fish tacos in the Village area. We didn't have a rental car for the first few days, but the local transportation system was inexpensive and covered a... More

Lived in the Marina District for over 3 years and loved every minute if it! So much to do downtown and the weather is always nicer than the rest of the city. Very walkable to get to all the attractions including places like Seaport Village, Convention Center, Petco Park, Library, Gaslamp Quarter, Horton Plaza, Little Italy, the Midway, Harbor Area... Their are homeless people on every street in downtown San Diego and most of them are asking for money. The city has done a great job on restoration, but it gets very annoying with the homeless problem.I would not stay in downtown again. If the local government reads this message please do something with the homeless as you have a... More

If you are out to see the sites you must visit Horton Plaza. At night it looks like the stores were built into a mountain with shining lights that seem like lit candles in a window. I enjoyed walking through the many stores, buying from vendors who had small carts outside of the stores. San Diego's downtown is exciting to... More

If I could, I would like to rewind back into my childhood (sometime in 1978) and bottle downtown San Diego as it was - I thought 'Centre City' was at its pinnacle as "America's Finest City". But, I'm not 11 years old anymore, and the skyline I loved has also grown up - continuing to show the gentrification among other... More
