Within' the first hour we found grey whales & pacific white dolphins. Stayed in the area to watch whales from a distance. Ocean water was somewhat choppy but not bad enough to make me sick. Dress for the ocean weather warm coat & hat. Did the 1:30 PM tour. Crew had a problem coming back into dock was delayed by... More

Great ecofriendly outdoors adventure to the San Diego ocean front, easy & safe sailing onboard the Privateer. Fun little excursion to see the marine wildlife in their natural habitat, saw Pacific white sided dolphins, common dolphins, and a southbound gray whale, what a treat! The onshore staff was welcoming and friendly, the crew onboard provided the guests with solid expertise &... More

Went on this 3 hour boat tour in mid December, they hadn't seen many whales yet for the annual trip the whales make down to Baja so they wanted to let us know we may not see any but we lucked out. We followed two grey whales for awhile and it was the most amazing experience. It was a very... More

This is a three hour boat tour. We saw two types of dolphins and two types of whales. The humpback whale actually jumped out of the water twice and then rolled over and flapped his fin at us like he was waving at us. Very cool. The naturalist was so good and knowledgeable. We did take a Dramamine before we... More

We did the 10:30 tour on Dec. 28th. Bought a Groupon . Dani was our guide. It was awesome! 3 hour tour and we saw at least 6 whales and 50 dolphins. Dani is a Marie biologist and gave information about the wildlife and area. We loved it and we're especially glad I found a Groupon!

These people care about your experience They want you to have a good time and see some whales. Remember, this is not Disney world, it's nature so maybe you won't see a whale. We did, saw two, as well as two types of dolphin, sea lions and various sea birds. Boat was fine, people were great. We will go again... More

We only saw two grey whales but they were magnificent to watch. Spotted lots of dolphins who were brave enough to come swim side by side with our boat. Easy going crew and beautiful day out on the ocean. Saw most of the activity the first hour of the cruise so be prepared for some downtime to just enjoy the... More

We had a blast! While we didn't see any whales (inbetween seasons) we saw an amazing pod of dolphins! The tour guides were great and very knowledgeable. A must do!

We liked our time in this tour, despite the fact that we didn't see any whales. We saw some cool dolphins. Not seeing whales is not the reason why I gave them a 3, they tried their best. My reasons for the low rating are that when you don't see any animals 3 hours is a long time. Most of... More

Since July isn't exactly whale season, I went into our cruise prepared to not see any whales. We booked a half day (2-3 hour) cruise in the afternoon. The reports from the week had showed good luck with a whale sighting more often than not. We wound up spotting 3 humpback whales, one of which breached near the boat probably... More
