We should have driven here earlier as the parking lot was jammed packed so it took us awhile before we found a spot.

Upon entering drivers had to commit to turning left or right and you would be routed in a one way direction through the parking lot. It was painful with so many cars.

Practically all the big name stores were here: Gap, Coach, Nike, etc. many of the big names had long lines to get in and then another line to pay for purchases.

The most interesting part of the outlet was the US-Mexico border wall that ran along the length of the back parking lot. I believe it was the new invincible construction touted in the previous administration.

Maybe had we come at a better time of the year then our shopping experience could have been more favorable.

Great location to visit “The Wall” as it runs directly behind the mall. Many of us were there from all over the country taking pictures and showing support. Take last exit in USA and park in the back. The Wall is about 50 feet behind the parking lot including the old version of the wall there, which is a great way to see how flimsy/unsafe the old wall was as anyone could scale that lame thing.

Great shopping experience with a myriad of outlets and great value! This was real outlet shopping at heavily discounted prices.
The San Ysidro trolley from San Diego, stops a 10 minute walk across the bridge to the outlet mall.
At the far end of the mall is a food court with tasty, affordable food.

Great shopping for Aussies but you'll likely spend the whole day there as there are a lot of stores. Found heaps of bargains. Drove for the first time in the USA from downtown San Diego and it was easy going down the freeway and took about 20 mins. You can take a light rail from downtown San Diego instead if preferred but the drive was easy and more convenient. Arrived at opening and there were lots of parking. My 81 year old mother and I felt safe the whole time there. Nicely landscaped with areas to rest and have something to eat. Went twice so would definately recommend.

Just decided to make a daytrip while in San Diego and took the trolley down to the San ysidro station and its about an 1/2 mile walk to the outlet mall. I like this outlet mall has some stores and a better selection then other outlets around ca. There is a north face store here and the Nike outlet store is the best I’ve found in ca. Everything is outdoors which I prefer during COVID so I’m not in a mall breathing recycled air.

Nice outlets, didn't find as much deals as I was expecting but good nonetheless.
My main issue is getting there, if you are coming from Tijuana via the main gate then it's fine, but if you arrive from Cross Border Express in the Tijuana airport there is no simple way to get there. Same for San Diego, only way I found other than ride sharing was via the Trolley (though it's kind of a long walk from the trolley to the outlets). Also to get back to San Diego I had a hard time getting an Uber, the drivers cancelled on me since they were much closer to San Diego than San Ysidro. One even accused me of "negatively affecting his work", as if I had the option to choose a driver or how distant he is! I'm not aware if the mall has options to get to and from San Diego but if they don't maybe they should.

Followed Trip Advisor to Las America's mall. Big, lots of stores, mostly for clothes, normal for a mall. A little worn out, but still in good enough shape. Store personnel were polite, efficient, and bilingual. Lots of tourist shopping. Food court is below average, so go to this mall to shop.

Visited Las Americas on 7/1. While we were shopping, our rental car was towed from the customer parking lot. It was perfectly legally parked. Beware of Las Americas. It cost US$290 to get the car back. They claimed we were not customers, which was a lie. Tried to get the money back to no avail.

After having spent our Saturday in San Diego, my friends and I decided to spend our Sunday afternoon by visiting Tijuana and the San Diego Factory Outlet in San Ysidro, just at the Mexican border. I had been to the outlet center just a month earlier but I wanted my friends from Sweden to see it also, since the large number of stores offers a great variety of clothes, shoes, and all the other products you expect to find at a major outlet mall. We decided to park our car at the outlet, but before shopping, we wanted to make a quick visit to Tijuana. Three hours later, back on the American side of the border we were all tired and hungry, and after all: peaseful shopping at an outlet mall is a nicer experience than being constantly "attacked" by the streetvendors in Tijuana. On our way, from the bus that took us back over the border, to IHOP, we noticed that our car was gone! Was it stolen? No, on this peaseful Easter day afternoon, it had been towed away to Chula Vista. With great empathy for the peculiar situation, the young lady in one of the parking kiosks directed us to the security office of the outlet center."We have you all on videotape: you left the property and went to over to Mexico. If you leave the property we have to tow your vehicle away!" was the explanation for our car being towed away from the outlet center.Instead of happily spending a few hundred dollars on shopping at the San Diego Outlet Center, we left the towing company in Chula Vista, two hours later, hungry and $230 poorer after taxi fares and towing fees. It would take something really special for me to ever visit the San Diego Outlet in San Ysidro again. I warmly recommend the big outlet mall in Banning, just west of Palm Springs, a mall with a somewhat nicer attitude.Enjoy your trip!Erik J

OUR FAVORITE MALL IN SAN DIEGO
As local San Diegans, we drive over 30 miles about 3 times a year to go to Las Americas Premium Outlets near the Mexican border. We have our favorite 'standard' stores like Banana Republic, JCrew, Gap, H&M, Loft, Ann Taylor, Old Navy, Columbia, The North Face and Clark's, where we can nearly always guarantee finding great things. It's not like the items are seconds, they are usually 'last season' or specially made for the factory stores.

AMPLE FREE PARKING (Although it's best if you arrive early)
We can always find parking (Parking is free -- yes!) and there are plenty of restrooms available. One thing the mall could improve is the choice of food available for lunch. They recently opened a Panda Express (Chinese food) in the new expanded part of the mall, which is a nice bonus. They also need a larger Starbucks as the line is often really long by mid-afternoon. A food truck can often be found in the front parking lot.

FOR EXTRA SAVINGS...
Stop by the Management Office to receive your 'Simons Mall Savings Passport' that will offer extra percentages off in certain stores (Often with minimum purchasing required, e.g. Get X% off if you spend $75).

MAKE A DAY OF IT
The mall is outdoors, quite large and offers a full day of shopping if you're so inclined.
Other stores you will find include Nike, Bath & Body Works, Kipling, Skechers, Puma, Polo, Tommy Hifiger, Tommy Bahama, Swarovski, Adidas, Calvin Klein, Disney, Kate Spade and Brooks Brothers. Opening hours: M-Sat: 10am - 9pm, Sun 10am - 7pm (As of summer 2018).

Patrons seem to be mostly tourists and Mexicans, not a lot of San Diegans. I feel like they are missing out on the best mall in San Diego for prices!

One more thing, I find the staff some of the friendliest I encounter in local retail stores and they are usually bilingual in Spanish.
