We climbed the California Tower when we were in Balboa Park. It is part of the Museum of Man, but you need to be on the tour to climb it. It is 125 steps to the viewing deck, but do not let that stop you....More

We took the guided tour to the top, definitely worth it. Guide was very friendly and funny, interesting facts about the tower and the area, and great views. The tower itself is beautiful, and the views from the top are great, gives a very unique...More

Very nice mission-style architecture in the middle of Balboa Park. It's a San Diego icon and on lots of post cards. Just lovely and in a fantastic park.

Visit date: November 19, 2017 I was on 4:20pm tour and it was PERFECT time for sunset. I go to Balboa Park on a weekly basis and I thought I've already known most of it. I was so wrong! The whole experience was amazing. I...More

Don't let the amount of steps stop you from going on this tour. They're easy steps to navigate and there is a landing to rest and receive historical info along the way. Gives you time to get ready for the next set of stairs. My...More

Very charming old Spanish architecture, a landmark in Balboa Park. Your eye is drawn to this lovely building as it stands above all else.

We're old, 72 & 79, with 1 replaced knee and 3 bad ones between us. We were somewhat apprehensive about doing the climb but decided to try it. They do stop every flight supposedly to give you some history but really, I think It's to...More

This was a quick, easy, informative tour. The climbing was easy. They make you sign a waiver, but I think that has more to do with if you were to fall off the edge (you won't). We had two guides, and they were very knowledgeable...More

We loved climbing the California Tower. You can only climb the tower by paying the entrance fee to the Museum of Man since the tower is accessed from inside the building. There's a separate fee for the tower itself, and you can pay that at...More

The tour includes interesting information on the 1915 Pan American Exposition. There is a stop-rest-listen to the tour guide at each level so most should be able to enjoy the climb up the stairs. Beautiful 360 of San Diego from the observation level.

Hi, yes I believe you can just do the tower climb. Of course bundling the Museum with the climb is probably more cost efficient, but it's still do-able.

Hi, yes a locker is provided although I think for a small fee (can't really recall). However, yes they are secure. I'm not sure about the size, I think we might have put a small backpack in ours. I would call and ask these... More
