Usually full of many different kinds of orchids in the arboretum. Lily pond as different lilies and fish. Plants change for Christmas to poinsettas of different color.

This historic building in Balboa Park is one of my favorite places. Not only is it a green oasis that's quite a photo spot, you can enjoy a change that match the seasons, such as poinsettia displays for the holiday season. Admission is always free,...More

The very large lilly pond is lovely and open whenever the park is. The botanical building has many well arranged plants and trees. There are benches where one can sit and spend more time in this lovely space. It is a very pleasant place to...More

The Botanical Building was closed when we got there, but the lily pond was beautiful. The flowers were colorful on the lilies. It was peaceful with the ducks swiming gracefully in the pond.

This building is different from most conservatories I've visited, which were entirely glass enclosed; this one is constructed entirely of wooden arch supported lath. It's a very attractive structure, and very well populated with plants from a wide variety of locales. A very pleasant visit!

The building itself looks like it would be a glassed-in conservatory (aka greenhouse) from the outside, but surprisingly it is open to the outside, not glassed in. There is a nice variety of plant-life, including some beautiful orchids. Going through the building took us maybe...More

This is an interesting building to visit to see a wide range of plants and flowers. Very calming and relaxing. You can spend at least 30 minutes in the building and at the pond.

Just a nice spot to wonder around. Some interesting varieties of plants. It’s was a very hot day and the leafy shaded areas were a blessing. I’d recommend this place!

I just saw this question. No, no fees. The park is a great family experience, the grounds are free. You pay for the museums throughout though. And the zoo.
