Loved visiting the Japanese Friendship Garden! So beautiful and breath taking. Took lots of pictures and enjoyed the walk through the garden. Go early in the day to find parking. I would definitely visit again!

I'v been to a few Japanese Gardens in a few different cities. Phoenix, San Francisco, Tucson, but this one here is my favorite so far! Friends and I visited this past weekend and the flowers are in full bloom, especially the cherry blossom trees. I've never seen real cherry blossom trees and you can get up close to these ones.... What a beautiful place to see the cherry blossoms in bloom. They had so many interesting stalls filled with goodies, not to mention best deal on pocky around. We didn't try any of the food, but it all smelled delicious. Not to mention the garden itself is such a tranquil place to just walk around. We have a balboa explorer... More

The Japanese Friendship Garden is a peaceful enclave in Balboa Park. It's a must-see in San Diego. The sculptured gardens and blooming plants give visitors a nice rest from the busy park and city. Unfortunately popular with the stroller-pushing crowd.

Nice garden but, for $14 you don't see a whole lot. Fortunately, we had an explorer pass. The area by the stream is pretty with the trees are in bloom.

Since I've been to gardens in Japan, I have a high standard. This garden was small and peaceful, but didn't compare to what I've seen. Avoid the restaurant that's near the entrance to the garden. The food was overpriced and tasteless.

January in a garden - not much to see you would think - but the lovely serene Japanese Friendship Garden in Balboa Park has wonderful walks that you amble through the winter garden. it was peaceful and alive with life growing and resting worth an amble then stop and have a hot tea at the Japanese Tea House at the... I enjoy gardens but this one was too boring to bring kids to. They only thing that was neat to see was the bonsai trees.

The Japanese Friendship Garden in Balboa Park has a variety of activities -- yoga classes, koi ponds, special exhibits, a lower garden walk with birds and flora, a meditation room, and a bonzai garden. And seasonally the well groomed look changes. Currently, a blow up Christmas bear sits in front of the administrative building. The cafe is on the outside... More
