The San Diego Museum of Man is your museum! Join the hundreds of thousands of people each year who come to see its exhibits on beer, monsters, torture, race, human and primate evolution, and more. You can also experience one of most important ancient Egyptian collections in the United States, which includes authentic Egyptian mummies, an exceptionally rare child sarcophagus, and one of the world's few surviving examples of Nefertiti's cartouche. Also, for the first time in 80 years, we are now offering guided tours of the California Tower - one of San Diego's most iconic landmarks. Tower tour tickets are timed like theater tickets, so be sure to purchase tickets in advance to secure your desired date and time.

This is a not a huge museum (which I think is a GOOD thing), but all of it is interesting, and there are some great exhibits. It's also situated in a beautiful historic building in the even more beautiful Balboa park. Highlights for me were the temporary exhibits on beer (fascinating!) and race (very thought provoking).

Great exhibits, informative, and don't pass up the Tower Climb Tour. The view is worth it! Really enjoyed the Maya and Ancient Egypt exhibits.

With the exception of the exhibit on DNA and race and some of the Egyptian items, the museum was a poor investment for the price of admission. Most of the exhibits are clearly marked as reproductions and are simplistic and cheesy. You have to pay separately for the California Tower climb.

We really wanted the tower tour, but it's not included with the GO Card, The area on race and inequality is overdone and rammed down your throat.

I came to the museum using my Go Card and was disappointed that it didn't include the tower tour. I was a bit bored with a lot of the museum and was turned off by the area focusing on racial inequality. The building architecture is beautiful.

Nice exhibits on the Maya and monsters as defined by various cultures. Also enjoyed the section on early man, which includes a recreation of a cave with drawings, that is probably my favorite part. The other exhibits were a bit hit and miss for me. I would recommend that you take the extra tour of the tower, particularly if you... More

I really liked this museum for the simple fact that it's full of history from the stone ages to how babies are made to mummy's to big foot, to race, etc. It's amazing, it's clean, and it's in a beautiful area that is full of history. We also went to the torture museum a must go to.

From torture to children's monsters to an exhibit on race and one on beer, this museum had something for everyone in our group. Rotating exhibits so best to check what's available.

The Museum of Man, located within Balboa park charges admission. I would call it more of a learning center. it has very few original items. Most are plaster or fiberglass. It would be great for school tours etc. If you are wanting to see original items this is not the place. Most buildings in Balboa park have separate admission fees.

Visited the Museum of Man for a Mayan exhibit they advertised. And also a torture chamber exhibit. The Mayan exhibit was very interesting with lots of history and artifacts. Definitely recommend. The torture exhibit across the way was truly horrific. The display of torture instruments, and their intended uses was chilling to say the least. Worth a look if you... More
