While waiting for the Morman Museum to open we visited the Heritage Park next door. Only 2 homes are open, with the ranger station at entrance and the tea house near the back of the park. All other homes are only visible from the outside and very interesting styles. The Church was closed because the roof was being repaired.
Cobble stone street closed to traffic and uphill. Signage is on each place to give information on what you are looking at.

My son knew about this little park and was anxious to take me to it. There are several Victorian and vintage homes, along with their history. The only one that was open when we visited was the synagogue.
It was a fun walk through the area and we also took a hike to a viewing area to see all of downtown San Diego. It's not a difficult hike and it only takes about five minutes, so be sure to do it. There is a bench at the top to relax for a few minutes before going back down.

The Heritage Park Victorian Village is one of the hidden gems in San Diego, it is a must-see when you are in the area, there are a lot of attractions nearby, so you will be near it at some point but you can easily miss it, so make sure to pass by this beautiful palace, vibrant colors, amazing photo opportunity.

This is one of my favourite parts of San Diego. Tucked behind the Mormon Battalion just outside Old Town this area is made up of a cul-de-sac of wooden houses moved to this location from elsewhere. One is a little museum, the others aren't open but you can wander right up to them. When we went there was only us there so we got some beautiful photos. There's a nature trail walk up at the back of one of the last houses on the left which leads you up onto the hillside & gives a brilliant view down over the street & beyond. It feels like you are on a film set as the area is so peaceful, unspoilt & a bit surreal. A flock of green & red parrots were feasting on the tree on the roundabout when we were there which made this extra special. Historically the synagogue welcomed people of other faiths to use its facilities before they had their own & you can still go inside today. I'd highly recommend a visit to Heritage Park.

Loved seeing these victorian ladies, but would have loved it even more if they had been open to view inside, but they are all locked up and windows are screened off. Still a lovely place to visit though, very peaceful. Well worth the short climb uphill

This is a tranquil cul de sac of 6 Victorian era structures. 2 have tea set and teddy bear stores, 3 are Bed and Breakfasts and 1 is a truly beautiful synagogue -- the first in San Diego. It's a peaceful stroll just a block away from the hustle and tortilla chip peddlers of Old Town that will take you about 10 minutes to walk through, if you go really slowly. Kids will be bored after 30 seconds. If I was a visitor, I wouldn't put it first on my list, but Victorian House buffs will like it if they're in Old Town anyway.

Heritage County Park is a peaceful place to visit. There is parking specifically for this park. But you cannot park here all day if you’ll be visiting old town.
The Victorian homes and the city’s first synagogue Temple Beth Israel were moved here from a different location.
One of the houses is a tea house, Coral Tree tea house, where you can enjoy tea and sandwiches. If you plan ahead, you can make reservations to have a tea party here for your teens, family and friends.
Or you can just walk around and view the houses and when you get tired, take a break at the many benches all around.
The park staff have done a great job keeping this place clean and well manicured. Stop by and ask them questions. The bathrooms are located behind their office which is important to know.

Absolutely gorgeous collection of Victorian homes and a synagogue. Virtually no descriptive material and two full time rangers who seem to know or care little about the houses. Their job seems to be to sit at their desks and talk to each other. No tours. No info.

This an amazing, historical place to check out. The are is within walking distance to "Old Town San Diego." This village has its own parking. Beware it is an uphill walk. However I learned that you are able to drive up, if you are not up to walking, or can't. Each home, has its history attached with a nicely placed placard outside of the homes. One home has a little trail in the back. You can't go into many homes, however the synagogue and the tea house, do allow you to walk inside. The tea house allows you to make a reservation to enjoy tea inside of the house.
The good thing about this location is the close proximity to many restaurants and shops. You can definitely make a nice evening out or date out of this experience. I observed some people on a picnic. I'm sure parking can be tricky, however I was able to find some easily.
Overall a great find, Many people that i met there are from San Diego, however had never visited this village!

We were so glad to have checked this spot out--the homes and grounds are beautifully maintained (interesting, varied architecture, gorgeous flowers, and vast, lush lawns), and while you can't currently go inside the homes, there is an informative and interesting write-up on each outside. It's just a lovely, serene spot to explore, take photos, sit and relax, and imagine San Diego of the past.

Are you allow to walk inside the homes

One of the homes is a tea house and if there are no tea parties scheduled, you can go inside and even sit down for tea. Two of the homes were planned for a B&B. Another one the Park Services uses and is open to the public. The little church is open to the public.
